I keep saying it, but it’s true: the people make these weekends.

A small photo dump from this weekend at .

Huge love to our neighbours , and to for the brilliant outfits and public displays. The creativity, effort, and joy you bring is what makes the whole place feel alive.
And a shout out to , my daughter’s new favourites. I’m going to have to prise that merch off her at some point, just so the hoodie and T-shirt actually get washed.

was also a highlight. My husband has followed them for a while, and got to have birthday cake in their cafe, with a full happy birthday song too.

Also, a special mention to the “monster slayer”. I didn’t get a photo, but the armour made from white Monster cans looked incredible.

This is one of those “my brain forgets what other people don’t know” things.

When you work with glass all day, it’s obvious what’s part of the piece and what’s a surface finish. When you’re seeing it for the first time, it’s completely reasonable to wonder if the detail is painted on.

So here’s a little mythbust about my glass and how the colour and pattern actually happen.

Show-day thought: I love demonstrating because it turns making into a shared experience. People ask questions, I talk with my hands, and the work happens in real time, flame and all.

I’ve been reading about the history of women doing table-top glasswork at fairs, and it’s made me feel quietly proud. This is not new, it’s a long tradition of skilled, public craft.

Have you ever watched lampwork in person?

I’ve seen lampwork at shows described historically as “fancy glassblowing”, basically table-top flame work, small objects made live, not furnace glassblowing.

I’ve been working on improving my show setup over the past couple of months, and this is one of those small changes that’s made a bigger difference than I expected.

This is my straw display over the last few shows.
The first version was my original display, I used it for years. It was simple and clean, but awkward to transport and, in some ways, it never quite felt right.

The second was a brief plastic tub era, I already owned them and my husband suggested trying it and for transport they were honestly the best option. They stacked well, protected everything, and made set-up quicker. They just looked like what they were, plastic tubs, and it didn’t feel like it matched the work.

The third is the same tubs, but I made wool covers with a linen hem and switched to a wool table cloth. It finally feels like it belongs with the work.

I hand sewed the covers myself, which is genuinely an achievement because I used to be a terrible seamstress. (I probably still am, but I did it!)

Witch & Fairy is coming up soon, and I’ll be there.

23rd & 24th May • Dadford Road Campsite, Silverstone

Expect a properly magical weekend: traders, workshops, live entertainment, interactive art, and all the witchcraft-and-fantasy joy (whether you’re into pagan craft, D&D, or full Ren Faire cosplay).

I’ll have a full stall with me, so you can browse everything I’ve made in person. I’m also bringing a selection of blown glass potion bottles, plus plenty of other pieces to catch your eye. The collage is just a little peek at a few that feel especially at home here.

I’ll also be running Fire and Flow, my have-a-go glass bead making workshops, if you fancy sitting down for a little time with flame, colour, and the quiet focus of making.

There’s something about seeing glass in real life, isn’t there?

I’m really happy to share I’ll be at the Derbyshire Life Home and Gift Show on 26th & 27th September, The Central Co-op County Ground.
My glass straws will be a key feature on my table.

Before any design goes on, there's this bit.

Flame polishing the ends of the cut glass that becomes the straw. Watch the second clip. It's darker on purpose, so you can see into the flame and catch that moment where the glass edge picks up its glow.

I can't share the finished pieces for this project properly yet, but I'll share more when I'm allowed.

A slightly grey February day, but some properly good news.

The Greener Glass exhibition at Stourbridge Glass Museum was originally due to run until July 2025. It was then extended to February 2026, and it’s now been extended again, which means my nature-inspired straws will be on display until August 2026.

This is the second extension, and I’m genuinely proud.

I wrote the statement for these pieces around the idea that reusable glass has a real place in the wider push towards sustainable living. Seeing that idea sitting in a museum case still feels quietly surreal.

If you’re local, it’s a really lovely visit.

I’m going back next week, and I think I’ll feel that same little swell of pride all over again.
