SEASIDE and SUMMER Craft Club was such fun for everyone – new children making friends and gaining skills as well as lots of fantastic volunteers helping every week!
In our first session we decorated polystyrene starfish with tissue paper and pens, then later added sequins and threads for hanging. We also used seaside stencils with pastel crayons and added a watercolour wash to create incredible underwater pictures.
Father’s Day bookmarks were decorated with lots of fun stickers in week 2 before we started our sea creature modelling project. We used old bottles, balls and pipe cleaners to make the “skeleton” then got very messy with modroc which then dried and was ready for painting over the next two sessions. It was awesome seeing the models coming to life with colours, sparkles and googly eyes!
In the final two weeks we made summer-themed hands puppets – the children were so skilful with their sewing! Suncatchers looked great hanging in the trees!
Our final activity was decorating a holiday exercise book and everyone was inspired about writing stories or diaries.
A bit THANK YOU to Wellspring West Sussex for funding all the children and making Craft Club a truly inclusive group.
I’m looking forward to starting Autumn Craft Club in a few weeks.
