Sodbury in Bloom

The Sodbury in Bloom team were out this morning putting pansies in the containers around town. Pansies are a great plant for this time of year and will continue to flower through the winter. They even work in a hanging basket.

It must be autumn - time to swap out the summer planting in Hatherell’s Yard for pansies which will last through the cold months. Thank you to our volunteers who helped today.

The planters in Hatherell’s Yard are still flowering well and looking great.
We’ve had months of colour from these plants despite the hot, dry weather. Thank you to our volunteers who have kept them watered.

It was a beautiful day for gardening today. Thank you to our members who helped give the Millennium Garden its autumn tidy. It’s looking lovely now.

Sadly we had to take down the hanging baskets today as they were starting to die off. They have brightened up the High Street and had a long season, despite the hot dry weather. Thank you to Bob for all his efforts to keep them watered and fed and looking good throughout the summer.
Thank you to residents and businesses who bought baskets from us to make the town look so nice and thank you to the volunteers who helped to take them down today. It feels like the end of summer now!

We’re so pleased to see some rain after all this heat and drought! The Community Garden has produced some good crops despite the weather.

We are in need of a volunteer grass mower!
Our previous volunteer, Nick, did a fantastic job for us and we’d very much like to thank him.
Nick has now stood down and we need to find someone to take on this task. If you could help us with keeping the grass in the Community Garden mowed, please get in touch.
It does not have to be done on a particular day or time, just as needed. We have a good quality mower that is regularly serviced. If you know of anyone who might have a bit of free time to help us, please forward this message to them!

Really sad to see the end of another local independent business. After 60 years, Merediths in the shopping centre is closing down. Such a brilliant traditional hardware shop.
