The blog we never wanted to write.

On behalf of her friends that have helped with this blog, I am heartbroken to share that Amber passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon.

One of Amber's phenomenal talents was to connect people from all over the world for good, inspiring thousands through her unique perspective on life and her ability to enjoy every second she had - bringing so much joy to so many of us along the way.

We are heartbroken she is no longer with us, but she lives on in us all and in her beautiful family and her boys.

There are so many of you out there that share our pain and so many have reached out wanting to help, to do something, to contribute and many have asked about a fundraiser so we can pool some money together for Nick to make spectacular memories with Aubrey, River and Remy.

With the permission of Amber's family we have created a fundraiser. There is no pressure to donate, but of course if it helps you feel like you are helping, then please feel free to get involved. Link in Bio.

We know that your messages of support and your love will be something for everyone to look back on in the future, when the boys are older and for Nick to take comfort from.

Please feel free to share your beautiful memories and anecdotes so we have a wall of powerful love to combat our sadness.

With love - to everyone who loves , from everyone who loves Amber x

Fashion Event alert 🖤

For all Cornwall based followers 🖤

I may have pressed pause on my website whilst I take care of myself but when the lovely asked if I’d be keen to come along with some India & Rar stock I couldn’t say no. I’ll be in the curated vintage and lifestyle room with a selection of India & Rar bargains from past season. Beautiful sustainable knit wear along with premium womenswear at amazing prices.
I’ve seen the teasers for the other pieces the other ladies will be selling and I’ll be honest I’m already scared for myself and my budget 😂

It’s going to be a great event and I’m delighted to be in amongst a great bunch of creative and wonderful ladies 🖤

Looks like there is also going to be some delicious food to accompany the inevitable style… I’ve been waiting for ages to sample some of the delicious

Finding Joy in the darkness….

Sorry about the blurry pic but I feel in some ways it’s a good depiction of reality. Life isn’t picture perfect (we all know that from when we turn our phone camera on the wrong way around right 🤣).
I’ve written another blog about how I coped and how I’m continuing to cope with my new normal between many smiles and genuine fun there is definitely many tears and that’s ok. It’s all ok.
Life after a cancer diagnosis is definitely very different than before in so many ways.
Check out my blog to find out how I’ve found ways to help me deal with it all ### 😘 link in bio xx

Good friends are like stars: You don’t always see them but you know they are there.

Sometimes a friend unexpectedly comes into your life. I met this beautiful soul when I had my shop Magpie & Fox, back then Emma was a photographer and gave me my first ever stylist job on one of her photo shoots, even back then she was my cheer leader and guided & supported me.

Since then Emma has helped me through some of my darkest times, helping me find the confidence to be my authentic self, guiding me, supporting me and always believing in me.

Emma is now helping women globally, she’s actually one of the most incredible women I’ve ever met and I feel so lucky to call her my friend. If you need a little guidance I really recommend connecting with her. She’s an absolute ⭐️ and I love her to bits ###

Hey 👋

India & Rar has had a fair few new followers recently so thought I’d say hi.
I’m Amber the owner of India & Rar and I’m also a mum of 3 boys. I’ve worked in fashion for the last 15 years both in retail and wholesale and was also the founder of Magpie & Fox a bricks and mortar boutique selling clothing and accessories which closed in 2018.

I opened India & Rar when Remy my youngest son was just a few months old and until I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer last year I was loving running my own business again and sourcing clothing and accessories again.

India & Rar isn’t going anywhere but I’ve not been as active with it as I’d have liked to be due to treatment and life’s surprises it’s been put on hold for a bit whilst I find the energy to work on it again.

I’ve really enjoyed blogging about my journey and you can read all about it on my website. I’m the meantime I’ll continue to use this platform to raise awareness about lung cancer and figure out my next steps?! We never know what is around the corner.

Thanks everyone for your continued support and messages.

Amber
Xx

I get asked ALOT how I manage to remain positive, especially since my diagnosis.

Believe me at times behind closed doors there has been crying, sadness and frustration at what has happened, not just to me but to the people this affects most, my family and in particular my children.

However to reframe it, I think to myself how lucky I am to have my children, to have Nick, my family and my friends that all inspire me and light up my life so much. How sad my life would be if I didn’t have all of this and it really helps me to accept the madness. I’d much rather spend the time I have on this planet with a smile on my face.

I’d like my legacy to be one of the positive actions I’ve taken and the loving relationships and memories I’ve created with the people that matter the most.

So take the time to enjoy every day if you can. Because the fragility of life is often taken for granted.

On a lighter note… you can purchase this lovely top I’m wearing on my website still and it’s 50% off 🥰😂

Do you have dreams?

Before becoming ill and still today I dream of loads of things. Growing my business, going on holiday, moving to my dream home the list goes on.

My dreams have changed a little since becoming ill, it’s definitely given me more perspective on things that are superficial and material belongings definitely hold less importance.

My dream is to live a long healthy happy life so I’m now exercising every single day, I read something uplifting every single day and I practice something positive every single day.

Old habits are hard to break so I introduce micro habits and try to break bad habits by realising them and being aware of them.

What are you doing to reach your dreams? Are you taking any micro steps? Life is so short don’t be a talker be a doer 😂🤣 ###

‘Oh no not another selfie’

Sorry about the shameless selfie 🤣 but I’m out for my morning walk and listening to Atomic Habits by and thought I ought to bite the bullet and start sharing a little bit more of what I get up to now I’m feeling a bit better again.

Most mornings I head out for a 2/3 mile stomp not just because I’m currently doing but because it makes me feel so much better being out in nature. It used to be a run but I’m building up my strength to do it whilst pushing a quite heavy 18month old.

I love creating habits but I definitely got myself in a rut post chemo… what’s your best habit? Xx
