Some of you might know my youngest son Solly has been working two days a week with me whilst he takes a year out and that’s great, but his true love is writing. Next year he will be studying Creative Writing with Philosophy and Ethics at Bath, but in the meantime he has been busy! Today we are travelling up to London to the BBC for the final of the National Young Writers awards. Solly is one of 5 amazing young writers who have been shortlisted out of three thousand entries and tonight they find out who has won. ALL of the stories are brilliant - please go and listen to all five of them, I’ll put the link in my bio. Solly’s story starts at around 11 minutes and there is an interview with him after. I think at this point all the writers have won - so amazing to get this far. Of course I am incredibly proud of Solly especially as we have had to fight for years to get him SEN support at school. Neurodivergent children can do exceptionally well when they have someone to advocate for them but loads get lost in the system. Ford and I fought at every single turn to get him the help he needed and now he is shining - the bright light we all could see in amongst the school journey. Please wish him luck for this evening - the winner will be announced live on Front Row at about 7.30 on BBC Radio 4.
