Prostate Buddies D&G representative Robert Copland paid a visit to the Crichton Royal Bowling Club on their opening day and handed out posters and leaflets to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer. Robert is a very active ambassador for Prostate Buddies and once he had completed his task, “he had a go at bowling”. Club member Alister McCubbin gave some tuition and Robert then threw his first Jack and Bowls. A natural talent!

The Crichton Royal Bowling Club held their opening day on Sunday 19th April. President Rosemary Lenton welcomed past and new members, plus guests from Dumfries, Maxwelltown and Marchmount Bowling Clubs. Rosemary thanked the volunteers who worked hard to get the greens and grounds ready for the season ahead. Rosemary then invited Rodger Walker, the club’s oldest member, to come forward and throw the first Jack and Bowl to open the greens for the 2026 season. Sophie Anderson, the club’s youngest player, presented Rosemary with a bouquet of flowers.
Thankfully the weather was kind and with the greens open players filled the rinks and friendly games commenced. The game with the Presidents and Vice Presidents playing each other ended up in a fair 7 shots each draw. Everyone then retired to have refreshments, buffet and a catchup with friends.

Everybody welcome, so come on give bowls a try at the Crichton Royal Bowling Club. From absolute beginners, we will support and assist you, to the more experienced player.

Crichton Royal Bowling Club members were out in force in the gorgeous sun maintaining the grounds and fences this morning, Saturday 7th March. With plenty of painting and clearing the surrounding shrubbery making ready for our open day. The season will officially start on Sunday 19th April, 1:30pm for a 2:00pm start. All past and new members will be made welcome so save the date in your diaries.
