Mystery Mantle Clock
The mantle clock has been sitting on the Bog Museum fire place for over 15 years. Having found it back then in the local rubbish skips were someone had dumped it. Only this week it has been noticed that something may be etched on it so we decided to clean it with some brasso and discovered the following inscription:

Presented to
Mr R Sampson
By his Dundalk friends
On the occasion of his removal to Sligo
Feby 1889

This was around the time of the land war in Ireland. Maybe someone could shine some light on it?
