Made from workshop scraps with recycled silver posts and scrolls, each pair turns out a little different.

I have been thinking a lot about the shock announcement to close down the craft courses at Edinburgh College of Art. Others have put into words much better than I can the impact this will have on craft and the arts in Scotland. Here is an open letter from Irene Kernan from Craft Scotland. Craft Scotland have launched a petition to help capture support flooding in from across the UK and around the world. We plan to share this petition with Scottish Government and politicians, and university decision makers to help fuel a reversal of these closures.

The University of Edinburgh recently announced their decision to close three highly successful undergraduate programmes at ECA: Jewellery and Silversmithing, Textiles and Performance Costume.

These courses represent the remainder of ECA’s undergraduate degrees in craft disciplines and teach vital making skills, alongside nurturing creative imagination and design expertise.

These closures will devastate educational opportunities for future generations of professional makers and designers. As young people look towards a sustainable A.I. resistant career, the closure of these courses denies Scotland's creative talent the skills and training required to build successful futureproofed careers in craft and design.

Oops! I've not posted anything on here for a while! Somehow suddenly we're over half way through September...

Sometimes other stuff and life in general gets in the way of consistancy. And I suppose it is good to prioritise other things over social media!

Anyway here is a bloom necklace in a colourway that I LOVE! This has become my classic necklace design, it can be made up in multiple different lengths and a huge colour range.

This is a one of a kind piece and is already sold, but there is a lovely long bloom necklace in a similar mix of colours (with a bit of yellow too) available in Coburg House Art Studios Shop. It is open this weekend 11am - 4pm.

I will be in the shop tomorrow, so drop in and say hello if you are out and about in Leith.

It is the final weekend to see "Statement Earrings" Coburg House. A collection of eyecatching studs and drops made by fifteen of the Coburg jewellery artists.

Other big news this weekend, the trams are BACK! They are now running their usual route every 7 minutes so it is easier than ever to visit us at 15 Coburg Street, just round the corner from The Shore.

Translucent magenta with a pop of lilac. They make a lovely splash of colour on their own, or If you like sets, these are a really nice match with either the new Flora pendant or the statement Flora brooch.

Bespoke colours.

This Bloom necklace and earring set in coral and blue was collected from the workshop last week. It was a bespoke colourway for a special occasion chosen from a few different colour options. Coral is such a great disrupter that looks great with so many other colours.

I'm hoping that after its outing for the big day, the pieces will become everyday favourites.

Current favourites.

I am so pleased with the way these earrings turned out, love them! They're not on the website yet and don't have a name, but I wanted to pop them on here to see what everyone thinks? I might call them Flora Drops, as they have a similar feel to the new flora pendants.

EDINBURGH

A city of huge contrasts! In so many ways. I absolutely love living here ❤️❤️❤️

Lochend Park is a beautiful spot for a peaceful walk. There are always birds to spot. I saw seven herons (and two having a scuffle) last time I was here. All quiet this morning though.

Edinburgh schools are back tomorrow, so we have been trying to make the most of the sunshine.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe yesterday with a completely different feel!

A full day of shows with the 16 yr old.

Jane Austen inspired comedy improv at the MacEwan Hall, packed lunch on the Meadows (supplimented with buns from Söderberg obvs), walked to George St for a witch trial court case, had a wee rest and listen to local musicians at the Ross Bandstand Neighbourhood Gardens. Then back up to Bristo Square via TING THAI for noodles and one last show!

2 for 1 on all of our tickets! Huge thanks to Strange Town for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe days out voucher. Lots of 2 for 1 tickets left for today I expect.
