I'm about to add 24ct gold foil to these earrings. Their design was inspired by lichen but I've been watching a programme about the space race and landing in the moon and now all I can see is craters on the moon's surface. I think the irregular, textured surface is definitely like the surface of the moon.

If you're looking for something to watch I would recommend For All Mankind.

October has arrived which means it's time to put the little ghosts back on my silver hoops. I wear the hoops on their own for the rest of the year, then add the ghosts for the spooky season. It’s basically two pairs of earrings in one. 👻 👻 👻

It may be the end of the summer but there's always time for butterflies ....

Handmade from recycled sterling silver and an aventurine gemstone sphere.

Aventurine is also known as the 'stone of opportunity' and symbolises luck and prosperity.

With the autumn equinox this week, I thought I’d share these earrings, which I think are just perfect for the new season.

They feature beautiful oval amber gemstones, hanging from little clusters of silver flowers that I’ve darkened with a patina to bring out all those lovely details.

I’ve also cut away the back of the amber settings, allowing the light to shine through the stones which especially lovely when they catch the autumn sunshine.

These are such fun earrings to make. I recycle scraps of sterling silver by melting them into a molten ball of silver into which I push a little raw nugget of sapphire. No two are ever the same but they're all equally cute 💕

One of the nice things about making jewellery is that I can make things for myself too. The downside is that I often end up wanting to keep the things I make, which probably isn’t the best business model!

I don’t actually have a pair of these sapphire earrings myself, but every time I make more I think I should probably keep a pair. Maybe in the next batch … 💙

💙 The September birthstone is the beautiful sapphire.

💙 These sterling silver hoop earrings use raw nuggets of sapphire which are set in silver and can move along the hoops.

💙 In the medieval times Europeans believed that a sapphire would change color if it was worn by a dishonest person.

💙 The sapphires can be removed from the hoops allowing the earrings to be worn with or without them - two pairs in one!!
