A tiny woodland visitor.

This handcrafted brooch was inspired by the small creatures and hidden details that make a walk in nature feel magical. Brass and copper wings create the body of the moth and a dark freshwater pearl is added as the head with little silver antennae.  I wanted to create a piece that feels as though it might have fluttered out from beneath a lichen-covered branch.

It's graduation season in Edinburgh and the city's universities are preparing for their graduation ceremonies. We're celebrating my son's graduation this week and it feels like such a significant milestone.

A few months ago I gifted him a pair of these cufflinks that I had made for him. However, I'm now thinking I should have saved them as a graduation gift!

The cufflinks are handmade from cobblestones that once lined Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, which stretches from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace. They would make a wonderful keepsake for anyone who has studied in Edinburgh or elsewhere in Scotland, reminding them of their time at university.

They also come with a fascinating story which is great to share whenever someone asks about them.

I've recently replaced my old camera with a new one. It's mainly for jewellery photography but I've probably taken more lichen and flower photos than jewellery so far.

As Jackie Kennedy said " Pearls are always appropriate."  These pearl earrings would be beautiful worn on your wedding day and just as lovely worn while sitting in the garden with a coffee.

My new lichen pieces are slowly progressing.  At the moment I'm cutting out lots and lots of lichen shapes in various sizes.  It's quite fiddly and I seem to spend a lot of time dropping them and then searching for them on the floor.  😊
