Celebrating 4 years ❤️🥂
I can’t believe it’s 4 years already. Our life continues to be busy, chaotic, and full of adventures! From loosing one of our original family members this year 🐾 to raising a little pirate 🏴‍☠️ it’s safe to say there is never a dull moment. But as my husband always tells me - everyone is busy! So next week we are off for a week of sunshine to spend some down time together and celebrate how lucky we are to have each other and our lovely little family ❤️

Beautiful new pieces in store this week from our very own Rebecca Halstead ✨

Rebecca is one of our team of three who keeps the cogs of SH Jewellery turning. Rebecca typically works every other Saturday and often brings in new pieces for her display in the window. Sometimes with pieces selling before I even get a chance to see them. Today I photographed some of my favourites from her new selection. All of these items range from £35 to maximum £165. So perfect pieces for every day wear and gifts for loved ones birthdays and special occasions. I will get these on the website as soon as I can as I know these little loop studs usually fly out pretty fast!

All of these pieces are made in Morningside too, so you can’t support and shop more locally than that!

✨This is 44✨

Going out for dinner dressed as ‘Miss Swan’ wasn’t on my bingo card for this years birthday, but the joy on my sons face was more than worth the many looks we received out and about 🤣🥰🏴‍☠️🖤 Scroll the images for the background.

A lot has happened this last year and reflecting on last years birthday post I realise just how much.

We are now closed on Mondays, have gone from no Preloved on the shop floor, and over 40 stockists, to 20 stockists and half the shop displaying Preloved and business feels better than ever. 🥂

I said 2026 was going to be the year of change and so far it has been, and continues to be. I’m letting the feeling lead me and reading the signs. Work life balance and quality time with my little family is a priority that I am keen to keep pushing forward.

Thank you for your continued support and making my little independent business a joy to run. ❤️

✨Theowback Thursday✨

These earrings came back to see me this week for a clean! The lower ones were bought at my post graduate degree show in 2005! Only 21 years ago! They are almost old enough to be out on their own 😉

They weren’t actually as bad as some I’ve seen in terms of cleaning requirements but they came up perfectly so they can be worn and enjoyed again.

Some people look at their jewellery and think they don’t love it anymore and consider selling it on but often it’s just that it needs brought back to its original glory!

So if you have pieces sat unworn because you aren’t sure how to clean them pop in to see me and I can help you restore it to how it once was. So you can enjoy wearing them again! A bit like me with my ironing pile (it’s not that I don’t know how to do it, I just never find that time!)….once a month I get a new wardrobe 😉

…I think this is our why 🥺

Last year someone said to me ‘that looks like bindweed in beside the poinsettia’ - and I think they were right.

I liked the fact that something just showed up and sprouted. Now I know it was the silent killer, strangling and stealing from the magnificent poinsettia.

It’s a sad reality that I think it’s time to accept that its fate has been sealed and it may be time for the garden waste bin.

✨Denise✨

Denise first walked into SH in August 2016 (we know this from the picture of Ruby in this reel from her camera roll!) - falling in love with Ruby and the beautiful jewellery. Despite predominately based in Aberdeen Denise visited often. I remember that Christmas joking to Denise that I had got Ruby an advent calendar but not one for myself. She came back later that day with the most elaborate and decadent advent calendar id ever seen as a gift for me. I was blown away.

Over the years Denise has bought some stunning pieces but when I launched Preloved I realised just how many she had from a variety of makers. Stream lining her collection meant some amazing pieces have become available for others to own and enjoy.

It also brought Denise and I closer, Preloved has changed a dynamic that I really love. With some of the money she earned Denise asked me to source new pieces for her at - getting some amazing and pieces.

Last year a penny dropped and I said to Denise - come with me! So in October 2025 we travelled to London for 3 days and enjoyed the Fair together. We chatted non stop and had such a lovely few days.

As well as having a great taste in jewellery Denise also has a love for Gucci and has invited me to some great events where I’ve met other lovely women like - a love of handbags is a new education for me.

It was the community that I saw evident in Gucci clients that gave me the idea for our 15th Birthday event. Bringing people together to share their love of jewellery was born from an evening at the Scotsman cinema.

Denise is always caring, thoughtful, kind and the most empathetic person you will ever meet (and a dog lover!). Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate her mum turning 80 in a few weeks.

The question is. Will she be coming to Goldsmiths again this year? 😉✨

✨Sheila✨

Who remembers all the posts of me wearing endless pieces from to promote our biannual Pop-Up Shop?

Sheila wandered into SH Jewellery during our very first year of opening. I immediately noticed her beautiful jacket and bag and complimented her on them. She then told me about how her business partner, Moira, made them, and that they had a pop-up shop coming up soon in Stockbridge.

So off I went to try on these beautiful pieces — and I ended up commissioning a gorgeous jacket for my 30th birthday. We instantly hit it off, and soon decided to host a pop-up shop in my gallery space that autumn. That was the beginning of our Pop-Up Shops! Every spring and autumn, Sheila arrived with two rails full of stunning handmade pieces, and we had so much fun trying everything on. I loved the different experience of selling handmade garments alongside jewellery.

We continued our pop-up shops right up until 2019. Then, after Covid, life changed in lots of ways and we never quite returned to them in the same way. Luckily though, Sheila happens to live in the same town as me, so Harris and I still pop over to see her and Spot the dog every now and then. Sheila also still pops into Morningside and now buys and sells through the Preloved page ✨

It’s crazy to realise how many years we’ve spent catching up on life over jewellery and handmade clothing. Thank you, Sheila, for being such a big part of my SH journey! 🫶🏻

Today I had the absolute pleasure of meeting - an iconic and inspiring figure in Scottish jewellery design. At 80 years old, Sheila continues to champion craft, creativity and community with such passion and energy. We met at her beautiful showroom on Hanover Street, drinking tea and coffee in Orkney chairs.

We spent time talking about jewellery, Scottish gold, the future of the trade in Scotland, and the importance of supporting and celebrating makers across this incredible country. It was also a joy to share our plans for Alchemy; Goldsmiths Scotland and discuss the opportunities ahead for Scottish craftsmanship.

What stayed with me most was the reminder that we learn so much from those who have dedicated their lives to excellence in craft — the people who inspire makers to keep striving, creating and evolving.

Scotland’s jewellery community is something truly special, and conversations like this make me incredibly proud to be part of it.

✨Trade Dinner✨

What a fun night last night in London at the Goldsmiths Hall. The trade dinner is a highlight in the social calendar and lets members of the company come together to celebrate the trade that we are all so lucky to be a part off.

From the candlelit chandeliers to the silver candelabra it really is a magical evening. As I think these pictures show it was such a fun evening with some of the best people. I was there with my hat on. There is so much energy and positivity for this new project and we can’t wait to share more about it in the coming weeks and months.
