Pearl is June's original birthstone and one of the few gemstones created by a living organism rather than formed within the earth.

They're not cut, faceted or polished from rough crystal. Instead, they are slowly created by living oysters and mussels; layer upon layer.

There's a lovely understated quality to them and they have this remarkable lustre that seems to glow from within.
