The last antique photo locket vanished rather alarmingly fast… so naturally I went and found another one.

This one is Birmingham 1917 and still has its original screw closure working perfectly over a century later. Proper antique quality - heavy glass, crisp hallmarks, and exactly the sort of piece that makes modern lockets look a bit flimsy.

Perfect for photographs, tiny paintings, pressed flowers, or simply looking extremely well put together.

Three antique foxes with ruby eyes - converted from antique stick pins and cufflinks into two pendants and a ring.

The detailing on these is what really makes them. Softly textured goldwork, sharp little features, and that wonderfully eccentric Victorian/Edwardian habit of turning absolutely anything into jewellery inspiration.

An antique 9ct gold glass locket in genuinely ridiculous condition - complete with both original glass panels and that perfect little sunburst border that makes it look like it belongs in a Victorian portrait miniature… or holding an extremely important photo of your dog 🐾

After much teasing, suspiciously dramatic photography, and several messages along the lines of “WHEN is the moon pendant going on the website??”… she has finally landed. 🌙✨

Victorians were absolutely obsessed with crescent moons in jewellery. Symbol of femininity, transformation, new beginnings etc etc. Very poetic. Very meaningful. Extremely deep.

Personally, I suspect they also just realised a diamond-set crescent looks outrageously good on a chain and ran with it.

This one began life as an antique brooch before being converted into a pendant by my goldsmith, giving it a much more exciting second act than sitting forgotten in a jewellery box for another hundred years beside a single cufflink and several deeply mysterious buttons.

The rubies are that rich raspberry red antique stones do so well, scattered between bright old-cut diamonds that absolutely earn their keep in sunlight. And the scale is chef’s kiss - substantial enough to make a statement without tipping into “eccentric Victorian astronomer”. Which, frankly, is a difficult balance to strike.

A proper long guard chain really does most of the styling work for you. This one is a glorious 56 inches of buttery 15ct rolled gold - long enough to wear doubled, tripled, layered or knotted depending on the mood (or outfit crisis) 💛

And honestly, rolled gold deserves far more appreciation than it gets. Victorian jewellers used it extensively for long guards because it gave all the rich gold look and presence people wanted, but in a form that was durable and actually wearable day to day. In solid 15ct gold at this length and weight, you would comfortably be looking at several thousand pounds rather than hundreds 💰

This one also has the huge advantage of an Albert clasp, meaning it fully opens and closes. Many antique guards are endless lengths with no clasp at all, which makes styling much less versatile chain⛓️

Two hearts. A very persuasive little duo.

One all soft curves and high shine - the classic puffy heart that does nothing more than catch the light beautifully (and frankly, that’s quite enough). The other a heart clasp - a clever little Victorian flourish that’s both fastening and feature, originally used on Albert chains and bracelets where even the most practical detail was given a romantic twist ⛓️‍💥

Together, they’re doing that quiet thing vintage does so well… making every other pendant on your chain feel slightly unnecessary.
