(Trick question. The answer is there is no such thing as too many)

Sea turtles have been cruising our oceans for over 100 million years.

That's right—they survived the dinosaurs, ice ages, and countless changes to the planet... yet somehow still mistake a floating plastic bag for a jellyfish.

They may not always make the best dining choices, but they're incredible navigators. Some sea turtles travel thousands of miles across the ocean and can return to the very beach where they hatched decades earlier.

Imagine remembering where you parked your car after 30 years, I cant remember where I left mine at the end of the day.

Ancient. Amazing. Occasionally confused by rubbish, actually this could describe me....

Sea turtles can hold their breath for hours while resting underwater... Some species can stay submerged for up to 7 hours when they're sleeping peacefully on the seabed.

Meanwhile, most of us panic when the shampoo runs over our face and we inhale half the water while in the shower.

These chilled-out ocean cruisers have been around for over 100 million years and have absolutely mastered the art of taking life slow. Surviving dinosaurs, ice ages, and countless changes to the planet. If sea turtles had a life coach, their advice would probably be:

Slow down.
Don't sweat the small stuff.
Take a nap when you need one.
Always know where the nearest snack is.

Maybe sea turtles aren't lazy... maybe they're just winning at life

Shark Fun Fact!

Sharks have been swimming in our oceans for over 400 million years... which means they were around before dinosaurs, before trees, and long before anyone decided pineapple belonged on pizza and I am one of the few who like pineapple on pizza

In fact, sharks are so successful that they've survived multiple mass extinctions while many other species disappeared.

Most people think of sharks as just Great Whites, Hammerheads, and Tiger Sharks... but there are actually more than 500 species of shark swimming in our oceans!

They range from the tiny Dwarf Lanternshark, which can fit in your hand, to the gigantic Whale Shark, which can grow longer than a double-decker bus.

Some glow in the dark.
Some walk along the seabed.
And one species even looks like it's wearing a frilly Victorian collar!

Sharks come in far more shapes and sizes than most people realise—and every single species plays a role in keeping our oceans healthy.

Hammerhead Shark Fact Time!

Think a hammerhead's head looks strange? Nature had a very clever reason for designing it that way!

The hammer-shaped head, called a cephalofoil, gives hammerhead sharks some incredible advantages:

Their wide-set eyes provide an amazing field of vision, allowing them to see above and below at the same time.

Their broad head is packed with special sensory organs that can detect the tiny electrical signals given off by hidden prey, even when buried beneath the sand.

They use their unique head almost like a tool, pinning down stingrays on the seabed before eating them.

And here's a fun fact: Some species of hammerhead gather in huge schools, with hundreds of sharks swimming together—something that is quite unusual in the shark world!

These iconic sharks have been roaming our oceans for millions of years, yet many hammerhead species are now facing serious threats from overfishing and habitat loss.

Meet the Lemon Shark!

Despite the name, lemon sharks aren't bright yellow and don't look like a piece of fruit. Their name comes from their beautiful yellow-brown colouring, which helps them blend perfectly into the sandy seafloor and shallow coastal waters where they spend much of their time.

Here are a few fascinating facts about these incredible sharks:

Lemon sharks are highly social and are often found swimming together in groups.
They can grow up to 3 metres (10 feet) long.
Scientists have discovered that lemon sharks can learn from experience and remember solutions to problems.
The waters around Bimini are home to one of the world's most famous lemon shark populations, making them a vital species for shark research and conservation.

For decades, researchers at the Bimini Shark Lab have been studying these amazing animals, helping us better understand shark behaviour and the important role they play in keeping our oceans healthy.
