Last weekend I had the privilege of hosting the . 5 towers were organised, Burwell, Swaffham Prior & Bulbeck, Gt Wilbraham and Oakington. We had a lovely lunch at who looked after all 22 of us well. The boy (Air cadet) joined us for the morning towers before joining up with the Ely DA Young Ringers on a mini outing to a few towers in the Hunts district. At the end of all the ringing we had a gospel centred service at Oakington by Rev James Alexander. My partner in crime, Jacqueline helped me with serving endless cups of tea, biscuits and an afternoon tea in the evening whilst they had their AGM. I couldn’t have done it without her! I was also honoured to be made an honorary member of the RAF Guild. Anyone interested in the guild feel free to ask me. Happy Easter all ✝️

Last night we rang a quarter peal (approx 45mins of non stop ringing) of Plain Bob Doubles. This was to celebrate the 200th birthday of the no. 7 bell, Chris’s 650th QP!! Also his 65th year of learning to ring, A welcome back home Roger Palmer from hospital and for the girl (the boys sister), who is 14 today! (What more could a 14yo want for their birthday?!!) lol.

🐹🔔 Human Guinea Pigs Wanted!

New year, new hobby? The boy and I are learning to teach bell handling and are working toward becoming accredited bell-ringing teachers. To qualify, we need some learners to practise teaching — so we’re looking for willing “guinea pigs” to try out a few fun bell-handling sessions.

No strings attached… just ropes (LOL)!

👨‍👦 Suitable for all ages
💪 No previous experience needed
🎉 Just a bit of curiosity and enthusiasm!

If you (or someone you know) would love to give bell ringing a try, send me a message! 🔔😊

The boy had a young ringers quarter peal to attempt the other week in Cambridge (second video) I filmed from outside, as the nights have closed in now and the church window was so pretty, you can see him ringing on the left side! Whilst waiting on the inside of the church, the Russian choir were practising their Christmas songs 🎶

Yesterday was remembrance Sunday. Over the last several years the boy, the girl and myself have made and displayed poppies at our chapel to mark the occasion. We do something different every year with the poppies and this year I decided we would fill the alcove above the pulpit thanks to the boys” go go gadget” arms he could reach the top to stick them on!! Hope to make even more for next year!

Hi everybody, so I’m going to try and catch up on here with what I’ve been doing! For several months, I have been working on a rather large project for the STEP fundraising for the Ely district ringing education Centre. This involved organising 25 towers starting at Balsham and ending up at St Mary’s in Ely. Each tower was open for one hour with well over 65 bellringers plus one dog (Hector) coming from all over the country (Monmouthshire, South Yorkshire, Somerset, Hereford chair Devon, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Norfolk, Worcestershire to name a few!) bellringers came and rang for several minutes before shooting off to the next tower following the planned route. Some ringers like to ‘collect’ towers that they have rung at. Thanks to the team and lots of willing volunteers and churches, it raised well over £2300. We had bacon butties served for breakfast! Refreshment stops at Burwell and Stretham with some yummy cake donations 🍰 The boy and I have been on these tower open days before, we love the challenge of ringing in as many towers as we can in a day which is why I was keen to organise one for the Ely district. I think everybody enjoyed the day. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying themselves and catching up with their acquaintances. The bell ringing world is very small!

I haven’t posted much on here for quite some time as I’ve been super duper busy with a big project I had been working on. The boy and I have still been ringing and last night we received our level 4 certificates for our bell ringing journey. Thanks once again to Phill and Steve ‘the legend’ (and many others) for all your patience and guidance in teaching us the compelling art of bellringing! We are still obsessed!
