What started as a birthday ‘gift experience’ turned into a passion – and I now can’t imagine not making silver jewellery.

I use recycled silver and endeavour to ensure packaging is sustainable and ethically sourced.

Where are your favourite places to buy jewellery? 💍

Well, my favourite place to sell my own jewellery is an Art Trail. And if you’ve not been to one, then you are definitely missing out!

Art Trails are designed to introduce you to a range of different artists and makers, usually reasonably local, across a range of locations (aka 'venues', in Art Trail-speak!) in a small town or village. Not only do Art Trails allow you to chat to the artist, but you also get to snoop round the inside of people’s houses, or get to visit places that aren’t necessarily always open to the public! What is not to love?! 😍

So, if you fancy trying one, then here’s a GREAT one to get into your diary:

Bonsall Arts Trail - 20th and 21st June - this coming weekend!

Bonsall Arts Trail takes place every two years in the village of Bonsall (in the Derbyshire Dales). This year there will be over 80 artist exhibiting up and down the beautiful village of Bonsall. Open both days 10am - 4pm. Entry £5.

You will find me with my jewellery (including lots of new pieces) at Venue 4: The Queen’s Head; along with , Nerissa Cargill Thompson, and Andrea Joseph.

The exact opposite of mass-produced jewellery ✨️

Each piece in my Botanics Collection is carefully handmade by me, using real flowers or foliage with fine silver and a subtle touch of 24k gold.

I gather the flora locally, preserving a tiny, wearable piece of nature so no two designs are ever identical.

Choosing a piece of jewellery for yourself is quite different from buying it for someone else 💕

I think that, for lots of us, buying ourselves jewellery seems like a rather decadent thing to do. It’s easier to justify when you know that the purchase is going to make someone else happy.

And we’ve been brought up to think that we should wait for others to celebrate success, or to mark an occasion with a precious gift of jewellery.

In the last couple of years, I’ve really felt myself shifting with respect to these assumptions. In part, of course, because I speak to lot of people who are considering purchases, but also because I find myself reflecting on the pieces of jewellery I have bought for myself, and what they mean to me.

When we buy for ourselves, we are celebrating our own milestones. No need for external validation. No need for someone else’s acknowledgement. That purchase will forever remind us of what we have achieved, or survived, or experienced, and we didn’t need permission to purchase it.

I'm in Ashbourne this weekend, taking part in the first ever ARTbourne Art Trail.

Find me in the Town Hall (venue #1) until 4.30pm today (Saturday) and 10.30 - 3.30 on Sunday.

This weekend - Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May, I'm excited to be taking part in the VERY FIRST ARTBourne Art Trail, across the town of Ashbourne.

Over 100 artists will be located across a range of beautiful venues - potters, sewers, ceramacists, jewellers, photographers, textile artists and so many more ....

There'll be street food, demonstrations, live music and sunshine!

Buy a wristband (£5 adult, under 12s free) to give you access to all the venues across the whole weekend.

You'll find me right in the centre of town, in the Town Hall - opposite the market place.

10.30 - 4.30 on Saturday
10.30 - 3.30 on Sunday

🌞 Phew - that was tough! 🌞

You may not realise, but setting stones is really quite a physical task; especially when you use sterling silver to make the bezel cup (the bit that holds the stone in place on the ring) rather than softer fine silver.

And my bench this afternoon was literally like sitting in a greenhouse!

Hot! Hot! HOT!

But, four lovely rings just about finished. In time for Holly to work her magic tomorrow, taking their photos, and then a final polish before .arttrail this weekend.

Right .... lying down now in the shade with a pistachio magnum.

🌞Artbourne Art Trail 30 - 31 May 2026 🌞

How exciting to have a brand new Art Trail on my doorstep. Are you coming?!

There will be over 100 artists in venues across the town, plus live music, street food and creative workshops.

You'll find me with some of this jewellery in the Town Hall on the market square.

⭐ Saturday 30th 10.30 - 4.30 and Sunday 31st May 10.30 - 3.30
⭐ £5 for wristband and trail guide (valid all weekend), under 12s free (buy them at Handmade Design & F Coffee now or in various venues on the day)

A huge great warm and sparkly thank you to you all for the wonderful two days 🤗

This time last year, just a few weeks into moving to Wirksworth and opening , I was sitting in my venue .microcafe, thinking that I just needed to go with whatever happened that weekend. I didn't really know Belper, and I hadn't exhibited at the Arts Trail before.

But you came; you said lovely things about my work; you bought special pieces of jewellery; and you were interested in my forthcoming workshops 💚

And you came back this year!

But of course, this year, you were familiar faces. You came wearing the jewellery you've bought from me, or that you've made yourself. THAT gives me the warmest feeling ☺️ You came to say how much you enjoyed a workshop, or that you were looking forward to joining a class in the future.

Thank you!

But maybe best of best, was how many of you who came, I now can call friends. Friends who came in to say hello; to check if I needed coffee; to bring a mate who hadn't seen my work; or just to natter. I dreamt of creating a community of makers - a space which stimulates creativity, harnesses friendships and celebrates the joy of just being in a lovely space (with cake, obvs) with lovely people. And I couldn't have done that without all of you 🥰

And last but not least, a massive shout out to the organisers of the trail (who are probably still asleep in their beds, I would think). Wowzers - what an achievement!
