We’ve streamlined our range to just 6 key colours for Spring Summer 2024. The shop is stocked up and when they are gone, they’re gone! There’s ‘beautiful brights’ and ‘colour block’ looking forward to showing them off!

Moncreiff Parish Church commissioned us to make a brooch to say a fond farewell to their probationer minister, Hazel. We based the design around Moncrieff’s famous windows, it was such a good brief! We engraved a cross in the middle of the overall shape and polished to a mirror finish, then added a satin texture to represent the window panes. Sarah, the wonderful minister at moncrieff, chose a special verse to have stamped on the back;

Psalm 27:14

14 Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.

Good Luck Hazel!

We were recently commissioned by Calderside Academy to make trophies for their Artist of the Year Awards. This was a really exciting project to work on. We loved designing something that would hopefully make the future receipts feel special and celebrated!

We had 3 trophies to make, Junior Artist of the Year, Senior Artist of the Year, and Young Photographer of the Year.

We included ‘continuous line’ portraits and a pattern of paint splotches on the junior award.
An intricate art deco design was used, contrasting with a larger repeat pattern on the senior award. All the imagery nods to the themes taught in the Art & Design department. These images were laser cut from stainless steel and mounted onto ebonised oak to make the white metal pop against a dark background.

The photographer award was a very different design and depicts a landscape scene. The image is made from multiple layers of blue frosted plastic. We have used brighter blues in the foreground and lighter blues in the background to create depth, Again a nod to what the young people at Calderside are taught.

Each award was sponsored by different Glasgow businesses, all of which work in the Art or Design fields, hopefully an inspiration to the pupils receiving these awards.

Junior Artist of the year: Precision Metals UK

Senior artist of the year: Surface ID

Photographer of the year: Pearl & Plum Photography

It has been a real pleasure to design and make something that will recognise the talents of our young people for years to come. Thanks for trusting us to take on the challenge Calderside.

We are wrapping up to go on baby leave but before we go, there’s one last ring maker to share with you all! Clare turned 40 in 2020 and has remarkably remained that age in anticipation of this very experience! She came into the studio to spend some time designing, with inspiration from other rings she wears. She’s a total jewellery buff! The end result was a rose cut, light grey diamond on a clean rub over setting. Clare’s job on the big day was to make an unusual ring shank for me to add the setting to. It’s got a triangular profile and meets at a pyramid point. This will let the diamond setting sit proud, showing off its spectacular sparkle. The stone is going to look incredible, set in 9ct white gold! Looking forward to sharing this one in a few weeks!

It’s the final countdown! One month today this lovely couple will be celebrating their wedding day! This is Martyn and Lynn and they made some pretty awesome wedding rings with us! Martyn is an engineer/builder with a mind for numbers, angles and tools. He was right at home in the studio. Lynn is a tattoo artist, again naturally precise. She set us a cool brief asking for a art deco style, wrap around ring to fit against her emerald cut diamond engagement ring. Lovely intricate work from Martyn.

They were both incredibly talented when making the rings, I have to compliment Lynn on the amazing dappled finish on Martyn’s band. See the photos, it’s pretty special.
Their rings are being cast in white gold TODAY! I can’t wait to share the finished results with you all!

Best of luck with the last month of planning guys!
