There’s something rather lovely about a diamond trilogy ring… 💎💎💎

3 diamonds, traditionally said to represent the past, present and future — and these 2 pre-owned beauties show just how different a trilogy can look.

Both set with natural diamonds, but one has an extra little talking point: Millennium-cut diamonds — an unusual cut that certainly caught Stephen’s expert eye.

Our customers certainly love Tanzanite…

After the reaction to our two trillion-cut tanzanite rings, we thought you might enjoy seeing just how different this beautiful gemstone can look in another two cuts.

One is a classic brilliant cut, set in platinum with natural diamonds. The other has that wonderfully elegant elongated marquise shape, set in 14ct yellow gold and also accompanied by natural diamonds.

And a little jewellery fact… the marquise shape is also known as a navette — from the French for “little boat”, thanks to its distinctive boat-like outline. ⛵️

Both are pre-owned, both completely different in character — and another lovely reminder of just how much the cut and setting can change the whole look of a gemstone.

We don’t come across fire opal jewellery often, so we were super happy to add these 2 gorgeous pre-owned rings to our collection 🧡

Opal has long been one of Stephen’s favourite gemstones — perhaps because, with his expert gemmologist’s eye, he appreciates just how wonderfully varied it can be.

And if you have an October birthday coming up, opal just happens to be your birthstone. 🍂

Black by name… but certainly not always black. 🖤

One of the things that makes dark pearls so captivating is the incredible range of tones they can show — from silvery grey and charcoal to hints of green, blue and aubergine, with that unmistakable pearly lustre changing as the light catches them.

Perhaps that’s why they’re so wonderfully easy to wear — distinctive enough to make a statement, yet remarkably good at going with almost everything.

And as you can probably tell from this little collection, we have rather a soft spot for them at Crown. 🖤

Blue may be the famous one… but pink sapphire has its own little fan club. 💗

One of the things Gemmologist Stephen loves about sapphires is the sheer variety of colours — and pink is a perfect example of why they’re such an interesting stone.

These two are pre-owned pink sapphire & natural diamond pendants, and a lovely reminder that September’s birthstone has more than one look.

There’s something rather special about taking diamonds from a piece that was no longer being worn and giving them a new lease of life…

In this case, our customer knew exactly what she wanted and showed us a photograph. Our workshop then recreated the design from scratch using the diamonds from her original flower pendant.

A lovely example of the skill, precision and craftsmanship involved — with a rather nice sustainability story too, upcycling beautiful stones so they can continue to be enjoyed.
