Little before and after.. Amber is fossilized pine resin and although millions of years old it is a fragile item and is most often glued into a setting. It is vulnerable to knocks and chemicals as we can see here, the surface has been satined.. I was able to pop the stone out and hand polish it back to glory!

***Big changes are coming!***
Metalsmiths + shop in Heathfield will soon be closing down! 😔 However the workshop isn't, but it will be moving to a new premises. 🥳 For over 20 years, we have had the pleasure in selling beautifully hand crafted jewellery from all over the world and repairing beloved customers pieces. Unfortunately since covid we've found that the way we all shop has changed, which is seriously effecting our high streets. Sadly with the cost of living, increasing shop overheads, and the price of materials have resulted in the retail side of our business no longer being viable. However the workshop side is still extremely productive.
So after a lot of discussion, we've sadly decided to close down the shop. This isn't the end of Metalsmiths, but the beginning of a new era. Building work has just started on our new workshop at home. Phil will still be taking in jewellery repairs/watch batteries and commissions. Archers Jewellery & Phil's work as well as Niki's Jewellery & clocks and Georgia's pieces....will all be available to purchase from the New workshop. 😊
It will be several months before the New purpose built workshop will be up and running. The shop will only close down once the new workshop is fully operational. We will keep you all informed, so please keep an eye on here or at the shop for updates. We'd like to personally thank all of our fabulous customers that have supported us over the last 34 years! And will hopefully will continue too. ❤️x
