At the moment in time I have found myself a mount to start showing on, thanks to a lot of supporting people especially my father, Harry North. This page is my blog of my journey from grass roots and beyond! Most of you know just what I have been through, and my goal is to go out and show the world, that no matter what life throws at you, you CAN get back up and carry on, you CAN keep going, you CAN find a way around your barricades and most importantly you CAN make the most out of your life. So a bit about me, my Name is Jackie North and I am need your help. I would describe myself as being, well, both the most lucky and unlucky person that you could meet. I was born with a rare case of PFFD (Proximal focal femoral deficiency) which basically means that my growth plates in this leg being near on useless but also that (The rare bit) the bones and joints on (In this case) my right leg are hugely deformed. In the past 18 years I have undergone 27 operations to try and fix this, and overall I am 1 inch and a half short still, but without this I would not have a leg from the knee down and now I have undergone my first full knee replacement at age 22. However, because of the shape of the bones causing unusual pressures on the body, it has caused aches and pains further up. Through all of this, horse riding has been the shining light that has kept my spirit alive, every time out of surgery it has been my reason to keep going, my reason to do my physio and get strong again all so that I could get back in the saddle, and now, Cookie has changed my life entirely. He is the reason I get out of bed in the morning, the reason I push through the pain, he is my light in the darkest of times and my strength when I have none. We two together are aiming to break all the odds to get to our dream of para dressage, so together we ask you to support and follow our journey, if you think you can help us, we would be most grateful whether it be a link to a person of knowledge or simply just a like of or on our page, it all helps! Thanking you all in advance,
Jackie and Cookie.
