At Alchemy Craft I produce work pieces preserved within copper. My work is currently undertaken in two main areas. Firstly, I create jewellery pieces from organic materials, real leaves for example, and secondly I preserve keepsakes such as baby shoes, a specialised technique usually referred to as baby shoe bronzing. My aim is to harmonise with the incomparable beauty
of nature to create jewellery pieces as unique as the people who wear them. As in nature every piece is the only one of its kind. Real leaves and flowers are the mainstay of my current collection. A tree in full leaf is a magnificent site. Look more closely and every leaf is different, with its own quality, character and foibles. This is what I want to highlight. A layer of copper metal is slowly built up over the real and unique leaf providing strength yet maintaining the leaf detail on both faces. Some pieces are retained with the copper finish offering a warm patina, others are silver plated. Baby Shoe Bronzing
Baby shoe bronzing is an electroplating process that encases the shoe in a robust, thick layer of copper metal that allows every detail to be retained and creates a beautiful unique baby keepsake that will last a lifetime. As a final finish an option to silver plate the shoe is available. Of course, bronzing is not limited to just shoes. If you have other items you would like bronzed just contact us to discuss it. Beware of imitations! Sometimes the term 'bronzing' is used to describe painting or dipping the shoe in a pigmented resin or lacquer. To ensure that your shoes are being plated with solid metal, look for the word 'electroplating'. This is the only word that means genuine metal plated.
