I’ve been very quiet on here lately, and I thought it was probably time I explained why. ❤️

The truth is, the past few years have been quite a lot.

I’ve had some ongoing health issues, including low blood pressure and periods of immense fatigue, alongside some difficult family circumstances. At the same time, the increasing costs of running a small business, the changes coming with Making Tax Digital, and the general rise in the cost of everything have been tough.

One of the things I’ve always tried to offer is beautiful, well-made jewellery at accessible prices. Unfortunately, that has become much harder. The cost of gold and other materials has risen significantly, along with many of the other costs involved in running a small business.

I know some of my newer prices can come as a surprise, particularly when people remember what similar pieces cost a few years ago. I completely understand that, but unfortunately I can’t absorb those increases indefinitely. I’d rather be honest about the true cost of creating something properly than compromise on the quality of the materials or the work.

I’m also learning more about myself and how my neurodivergent brain handles stress and overwhelm. There was a time when I was taking on so many commissions that, although I loved the work, I was starting to lose the joy in it. I don’t want to get back to that place.

So I am still working, just at a much lower capacity than I used to. I’m taking on a smaller number of commissions selectively, so I can give each piece the time and care it deserves while still enjoying what I do.

And the lovely thing is, I still do enjoy it. I still love designing, problem-solving and helping someone turn an idea in their head into something they can actually wear. That part hasn’t gone away. 💍

So if you’ve wondered where I’ve disappeared to, that’s the honest answer. I haven’t forgotten about you all. ❤️

One of my closest friends has decided to gift me a rare tsavorite heart gem for my upcoming birthday. 💚

I love her honestly she's the best!!

Naturally, I've already worked out a design for it to go on my grandma's heirloom chain 🤫

This is just a rough mock up - it's something I do before CAD stage for most customers to help visualise ;)

Jewellery brain activated. 😂

A little more about the person behind the business... 🎹

I've been learning piano for just over a year now. This is by no means perfect, but I'm sharing it anyway ❤️

The last couple of years have brought quite a few personal challenges for me and my little family.

I've had to reduce the amount I'm able to work, and with the increasing costs of running a small business, things haven't always been easy. But I'm doing my best.

So here's a little glimpse of something I've been learning lately, purely because I enjoy it.

I'm still learning, still making mistakes, but I'm enjoying the journey. And perhaps that's something I'm learning from the piano too: it isn't always about perfection. It's about authenticity, feeling and putting something of yourself into what you do. I think that applies to quite a lot of things in life.

I have a beautiful 0.50ct natural princess-cut diamond and I’m thinking of making something special with it in silver.

I personally find a compass (diagonally set) princess cut much more elegant and distinctive than the usual horizontal setting. ✨

💍 Huge congrats to Sally & Mal! 🥂

We are so incredibly happy for this lovely Aberdeen couple on their engagement!

Sally and Mal are proof that finding love later in life is a very special thing 😊

When they first got in touch, Sally knew exactly what she wanted: a crisp, light blue stone.

With my guidance, she opted to skip the cloudiness and delicate nature of an aquamarine, and go for the same colour but more sparkle ✨ 👌

After looking at a few different stone shapes, Sally left the final choice up to Mal.

And he nailed it 🥰

Mal popped the question on the grounds of Inverness Castle with a gorgeous 1.5ct light blue Asscher-cut moissanite centre trilogy, adorned with white round sides.

What I love about this ring is the sleek, modern yellow gold rubover setting, that oozes stunning simplicity, highlighting the blue hue, whilst offering maximum stone security.

It was such a pleasure hanging out with you both and playing a small part in your story.

Wishing you both a lifetime of laughs and happiness! 💕
