Tomorrow is asterlingidea's 14th birthday, where time and youth has gone; I don't know. But Tamsin and I have marked such occasion with a limited run of these twisty, silver lovelies. Named 'Shintangle' after Tamsin declared they looked like the unfurling ferns which have popped up around Galloway in recent weeks and did a deep dive on the lore and etymology of such things.

Each one is handmade to your size and come in 3 different gem options:

Topaz and Moonstone
Rhodolite Garnet, Red Sapphire and Cubic Zirconia
Peridot, Emerald and Green Sapphire

Merry Monday to you all! A busy wee start to the week in the studio with several folk in for commission appointments. Always excellent to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones with exciting heirloom treasures to transform.

Not quite as promised, someone snaffled one of those pendants I posted last night but...this one is still available and now up on the website over on www.asterlingidea.bigcartel.com for anyone who fancies it. Worth taking a wee peek as there are couple new things available, including the gemstone wobble bangles.

Off out for a walk with the pup to enjoy that extra hour of sunlight that I absolutely forgot about when I awoke yesterday morning. It was more a catapult than a spring forward, but I'll take it regardless! Big love, Hannah x

Here is the second re-modelling in Gail's trilogy of different pieces.

A bright, and tactile pendant with a scattering of diamonds and sapphire. Flush set into a hammered gold disc, the idea was to place the heirloom stones into a star like constellation to keep her loved ones close to her heart.

Just love that warm hue of the gold against the sparkling white diamonds, the sapphire giving a subtle and bright interjection into the whole thing.

This is first of 3 pieces for Gail. After getting in touch last year to discuss re-modelling some heirloom pieces, we settled on turning them into a big statement band, a pendant and these stackers pictured.

By mixing different gold carats from lots of her precious pieces, I created this beautifully rich and buttery tone of yellow gold that would act as the base for the stacking rings. Flush set rubies, sapphires and diamonds intersperse between the bands making them a playful and tactile set that can be worn together or individually.

Just one of the ways Gail is now able to keep the memories of her loved ones with her. Keep your eyes peeled for her striking pendant in the coming days. Work is still ongoing on the big blinger but I have a feeling it will be well worth wait.

Meet Tamsin, my niece and new asterlingidea apprentice. After spending the last 9 years working in childcare, she's decided to upend life in Fife and take up the bench here in Kirkcudbright with me. Who know's where it will take us but we're both game for the ride, regardless.

It is quite the honour to be able to pass on jewellery skills and craft to her in hope of keeping real making alive for as long as possible. Even more so that she is family.

These are funny old times we are all living in but Tamsin and I are determined to keep on growing, evolving and making until such time we are unable. Your ongoing support is HUGELY appreciated.

We are available for appointments, in person and remote commission work as well as workshops, just get in touch via message.

Found a few hours this afternoon, in the weird Twixmas downtime to photograph and upload those 3 new rings I posted before Christmas.
