I have seen a few videos calling quartz bland in so many words; saying how your favourite gemstone is just a quartz variety. There is no shame in that, quartz is a beautiful mineral, and a lot of crystals are quartz, pieces you probably didn't even know were quartz.
There is the common quartz varieties such as; clear Quartz, amethyst, citrine, rose quartz, lemurian seed quartz, crackle quartz, strawberry Quartz and smoky quartz (to name a few) then there is quartz inclusions such as; rutile quartz, tourmalinated quartz, and dumorterite.
Then there is the Cryptocrystalline Quartz, these are microcrystalline forms of quartz which includes; agate, carnelian, onyx, jasper and chalcedony (again to name a few)
All these varieties are made of the same basic chemical structure, Silicon Dioxide. Tiny differences in formation conditions create the wide range of colours and patterns we see across these minerals.
