✨ A Beautiful Bespoke Creation at Shaw Jewellers ✨

We absolutely love bringing our customers’ ideas to life, especially when we get to work with their own precious gold! 💍

This stunning, heavyweight gentleman’s signet ring was made in our workshop a few months ago, using our customer’s own 9ct rose gold, with just a little extra gold added by us to create the perfect finished piece.

The result is a beautifully solid, classic signet ring, designed to be worn and enjoyed every single day. ❤️

There’s something really special about transforming gold a customer already owns into a completely new piece of jewellery that can be treasured for years to come.

💙 A little personal update from me… 💙

I’m so happy to share that Joseph Huw arrived safely on 11th September. 🥰

He’s settling into family life beautifully, and his two big brothers are absolutely over the moon with their new baby brother. 💙

We’re enjoying these very special first days together and soaking up all the newborn cuddles.

Thank you so much to all our lovely Shaw Jewellers customers for your kind messages and well wishes throughout my pregnancy, it really does mean a lot.

Our latest blog - Why does your ring fit differently in summer and winter?

This one feels particularly relevant to me at the moment! Towards the end of my pregnancy, my hands are so swollen that none of my rings will go on — very strange for a jeweller who usually always has rings on! 😂

Our finger size can actually change quite a lot. Hot weather, cold weather, fluid retention, exercise and even the time of day can all affect how our rings fit.

☀️ Summer: fingers often swell, making rings feel tighter.
❄️ Winter: fingers can become smaller, making rings feel looser.

That’s why a ring feeling tight doesn’t necessarily mean it needs resizing. In my case, my rings are staying safely put away until my hands return to normal!

🐾 Meet the newest member of the Shaw Jewellers family… Marley! 🐾

Some of our customers may have already spotted this little face in the shop over the past couple of weeks! ❤️

Marley has been joining Julie at work while he’s still very young and settling into his new routine. He’s not quite fully vaccinated yet, so for the next couple of weeks we’re being extra careful and unfortunately won’t be able to welcome other dogs into the shop while Marley is here.

This is only temporary. As anyone who knows us will know, we’re huge dog lovers and our four-legged customers are normally very welcome! 🐶💕

Once Marley has finished his vaccinations, normal doggy service will resume — and he can’t wait to meet all of our lovely customers and their dogs!

In the meantime, please say hello to Marley, our newest (and possibly cutest!) Shaw Jewellers team member. 💎🐾

We have a feeling he may not be particularly helpful with jewellery repairs… but he’s excellent for staff morale. 😂❤️

💛 A little update from Shaw Jewellers 💛

Unfortunately, Shaw Jewellers will be closed this Thursday and Friday.

I’ve had to make the difficult decision to start my maternity leave a little earlier than planned, following medical advice. It wasn’t quite how I expected to finish up, but I now need to take some time to rest and concentrate on the final few weeks before our new arrival. 👶🏼💛

I’m hoping to be back with you all in November.

But Shaw Jewellers isn’t going anywhere! 💎

🔨 Our working jeweller will be keeping things ticking over while I’m away and will be in the shop every Tuesday, as well as this Saturday. So you’ll still be able to call in for jewellery repairs, alterations, collections and enquiries.

🤍 Julie, our pearl expert, will also usually be in the shop Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Julie is away this week, which is why we unfortunately need to close on Thursday and Friday, but she’ll be back to look after you all while I’m on maternity leave.

There may be a few changes to our usual opening hours over the next couple of months, so please keep an eye on our page for updates before making a special journey.

Thank you so much to all of our wonderful customers for your understanding, patience and continued support. It really does mean an awful lot to me and to all of us here at Shaw Jewellers. ❤️

Some pieces of jewellery are about so much more than how they look — they’re about who they keep close. ❤️

This incredibly special ring was completely handmade, created to hold the memory of our customer’s much-loved sister.

We handmade the ring in 9ct yellow gold, incorporating her sister’s ashes within the solid gold caps so they could become a permanent and discreet part of the finished piece.

We were also entrusted with two of her own diamonds, which we carefully incorporated into the design. To complement them, we sourced a beautiful 0.33ct VS1 natural diamond, creating the stunning centrepiece of the ring.

The finished design is completely unique — three diamonds alongside the handmade gold memorial caps, each element carrying its own significance.

It is always an enormous privilege when someone trusts us with something as precious and irreplaceable as a loved one’s ashes and jewellery. We hope this ring brings our customer comfort for many, many years to come, knowing that a little part of her sister will always be right there with her. 🤍

We completely understand why you’d like a ring resizing estimate before visiting us, but to give an accurate quotation we do need to see both your ring and your finger in person.

Here’s why:

💍 We professionally measure your finger in-store. Plastic ring sizers and guesswork simply aren’t accurate enough for the perfect fit.

💍 Every ring is different. We need to identify the metal, assess the design, and calculate exactly how much work and additional material is required.

💍 Precious metal prices change daily, so we can only provide an accurate quote once we’ve examined your ring.

💍 We never recommend stretching rings. While it can be a quicker option, it can weaken the metal and risk damaging sentimental jewellery. We always resize rings using the correct professional methods.

In many cases we can provide an estimate while you wait. If our working jeweller is away, it may take a day or so for us to assess the ring properly.

⏱️ Ring resizing is usually completed within 2 weeks.

Thank you for understanding. Taking a little extra time at the beginning helps us ensure your treasured jewellery is resized safely, accurately, and to the highest standard.
