A warning to all my customers - please pass this on.
I am getting more and more requests from people asking me to reset pieces that they have ordered from others that are poorly made.
My feed is flooded with new sellers and I've even seen my own settings used on their websites. Unfortunately youtube videos show spectacular results but like most content it is not always reliable and rarely do quick "hacks" work.
Please be aware UV resin is a product intended mainly for crafters. It sets under a lamp in minutes and has created a boom in the crafting jewellery market but It will scratch, discolour and degrade quickly and the setting is often bumpy, bubbly and uneven and sometimes overspills the edges of the mount. Likewise standard acrylics/inks/pigments are mostly fugitive and will fade within months if not weeks.
The jewellers 2 part epoxy I use takes 48 hours to cure and 4 days to fully harden during which time it must be carefully watched, monitored and controlled. The finish is hard, smooth and crystal clear and is able to withstand final polishing. The pigments and additions I use are professional, lightfast ASTM1 standard. To make a good quality setting takes time, quality products and experience.
Before you choose someone to make your precious jewellery look more closely at their photos and ask them - what resin and pigments do you use and how long have you been doing this?
I'm happy to reset your jewellery and am able to recover ashes set by others but... I'm sad you had to pay twice :(

Here are two of the worst examples I've rescued. Please be careful when you trust someone with your precious inclusions.
