It’s been nearly four years since we lost our twins, Elsie and Lyla. I’ve been making memorial jewellery for the last three years, and in all that time, my partner has never once asked me to make him anything. He’s always said he would be to scared of loosing it if he had anything.
We grieve so differently. I’ve always needed to talk about the girls, to keep their memory alive in every way I can. He’s always been the opposite—locking everything away until it becomes too much, getting it off his chest, and then carrying on. We both went through the same heartbreaking loss, but his focus was always making sure I was okay & the kids, even when he was breaking too. He never let the world see that side of him.
So when he saw one of these bracelets that I’d made a few weeks ago and he said, “I’d like one of those,” I was shocked… and so excited to make it for him for Father’s Day 🤍
It holds a little of Elsie and Lyla with him every single day, just as they always should be. We’ve got a beautiful son together & hes brilliant with my eldest son and I know without a doubt he would have been the most incredible dad to our twins too.
He absolutely loves his bracelet—so much so that he’s already worried about losing it, which secretly makes me smile because I know just how much it means to him. 🤍
Happy Father’s Day to the dads who hold their children in their arms, and to the dads who carry them forever in their hearts. You are seen, you are loved, and your children will always be part of you. 🤍
