Just a little heyyyy đ It's month, but I'm a terrible business person and I'd rather show you my work than my face! But I thought it was about time for a 30 second reintroduction...
I'm Chris and I've been making jewellery for nearly 12 years now. If I'm honest, Curious Owl started because I'm an introvert and will do pretty much anything to not be in an office all day. I'd always collected silver rings, so I decided to have a go and teach myself silversmithing.
My first bench was literally an old wooden shoe rack on the floor. There were a lot of mistakes, a few burns and much cursing before I produced anything wearable. I've had two amazing studios since then and been surrounded by incredibly talented creative people.
The last couple of years have been a rollercoaster - anyone running a small business or doing anything creative will tell you as much. So this year I made the hard decision to leave my rented space, and I'm lucky enough to now have a home studio. I still help run a wonderful building full of creative women at
Most of my work has not been planned ~ I have lots of ideas but I struggle to take a defined path, I tend to get excited then move onto the next thing. But on the plus side, I have a full website of designs and a lot of experience making custom orders, which I love. It's hard to define my style because I like a bit of everything - basically a marketing nightmare!
When I'm not at the bench I want to be outside as much as possible, or doing DIY jobs. I'm one of those annoying people you leave alone for a couple of nights and come back to find the house rearranged. I've realised over the years that my brain is better when it's busy making something, even if it turns out rubbish.
If you've made it to the end of this then well done, really. Your attention span is commendable and I thank you đđЎ
