Agenoria Models

Agenoria Models Agenoria Models is a small business that manufactures and developes kits, mainly small industrial prototypes, in gauge 0, gauge 1, gauge 3 and five inch.

Agenoria Models is a manufacturer of etched model kits in 0 Gauge (7mm), Gauge 1 (1-32), Gauge 3 (13.5mm) and 5 inch. Agenoria Models produces high quality etched nickel silver kits including some of the largest accurate highly detailed 5 inch Gauge kits in the world. We have over 70 kits of industrial branch line tank engines along with some early BR diesel prototypes. All kits come complete with

wheels, motors and gears, and the 5 inch range also comes complete with control gears and batteries. There is no need to source parts from other manufacturers. All castings in the kits are made of high quality lost wax brass for ease of soldering and all etchings are in nickel silver or brass. These kits can be made with standard modelling tools, no specialist tools are required. This page is to promote new developments and to get feedback on demand and suggestions of new products in the range. This page will also advertise general and specialist model railway shows Agenoria Models will be attending up and down the country throughout the year, for those who want to view the products in person. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us.

Not posted anything for a while. Not had much time for modelling lately.
We are about to move house again, New jobs and an opportunity came about and we have have brought a large Grade 2 listed property at Auction, which we will refurbishing over the next 12 months, so all modelling is packed away and on hold until I have finished this and other building work I am doing at the moment.

Hopefully this and other properties we have, will provide sufficient income for me to be able to retire, This new property ( that use to be a pub, has 20 rooms including 3 cellars, so I should have somewhere to build a new workshop, maybe even space for a layout. But I need to convert it into a home first, so it could be another 12 months before that is ready.

Finally finished off the 1:24 Airfix Mozzy today. My final task was the make some bullets being loaded into the front magazines. and paint the last two figures. made these from thin wire, they are not brilliant, could have done with some brass wire instead of nickel, and they were a pig to bend to shape, they kept snapping and were a bu**er to re-solder......... They will do for now until I can etch some, with better gaps between them, but my etchers are still on lock down at the moment and not taking on any new work. so it will have to wait.
Just got to make a base to display it on, and a box to transport it, All drawn up but again, it is same place that does my etching, so again will have to wait, I am going to make two more service vehicles at some point, But it looks like we might be moving house, so any modelling is going to be on hold for a while.

So been doing a bit of work on my Airfix 1:24 Mozzy, A Chrismas prezzy of wifey a couple of years ago which I started and never completed because of issues I had with the kit.
The Biggest stumbling block for me, was the undercarriage. The plastic parts are far too flimsy, and break if you so much as cough on them. this goes for a lot of bits such as pipes and struts etc that you get in these high detailed kits. Which is a pity, because its a lovely model
The manufacturers of many kits these days put castings or etches in, I think Airfix need to do the same. Some of the parts are ridiculously fragile and break even trying to cut the out, Sorry but 1 mm pipes in plastic are hidious to cut out, which might be why you don't see to many of these models around the shows, built up?
These are my favourite planes of WW2 and I wanted to make a diorama and build some service vehicles for it, to do the detail justice. You may have seen these scratch built models in a previous posting. Yet another thing Airfix don't do to go with their 1:24 planes. However, finishing these vehicles off has prompted me to finish the kit.
Some time ago I decided that the undercarriage would never survive the build, never mind be strong enough to work in the rest of the plane or take to shows, and survive the journey, so using my contacts I decided to use the plastic parts as masters, and cast them in brass.( And before you ask), 'No' I cannot sell you a set, as this would breach their copyright. as they are not my masters, But if you haven't started yours yet for the same reasons, or gave up having broke the bits and decided to build one in flight instead, you could do the same as me and get your own castings made, to replace the useless plastic ones, in the frets.
As I didn't want mine in the air and wanted to show off some of that lovely detail. Although this is not a cheap option, it cost me about the same price as the kit to do, I think it is worth it, as the brass replacements are a 1000 times stronger than the plastic ones. and because the plastic parts were used as masters they are exact replicas of them.
Anyway here are some photo's I took, to show how the diorama will eventually look, near enough? It will of course look much better on a proper bit of modelled airfield and when the Mozzy is fully finished and painted in Day period it will look splendid. I have got to get some more figures and modify them and make them some hats. (They are actually modified Revell Rally pit crew, I also used some of the tools in this kit. A much cheaper alternative, as there is very little available in this scale. I think I will get another set as these are readily available. and cost a few pounds for five figures. The rest you may recognise from the Airfix kit itself, Still got a few to modify. file off the flight suits etc.
Got to repair the front guns know, something else that would have been better cast in metal. They got blitz during the building. Easy done. Another day on it and it will be ready to start painting it.

Finished off my Scratch built 1:24 scale AEC, RAF Tanker, and my David Brown Tractor.
When there is no kit available this is when scratch building becomes a necessity.

So today's task on the 1:24 scale RAF fuel tanker, was to build the the boom and platform that was not on the Airfix version, but visible in the photo of a preserved tanker.

There has been a lot of artistic licence used on this to provide the parts from the bits box. but I am happy with the results. It looks the part.

As this is only ever going to be a one off and never available as any sort of kit, I don't have to worry too much about absolute accuracy, so long as it is close, the rivet counters can do one.

Work is progressing with the 1:24 scale AEC Fuel Tanker.

Redid the hinges on the doors today, they work much better, and did some on the cab. made up the internals and modified the roof so I can remove it to get to the internals.

Got to finish off the doors, so I can open them, add some mirrors and sort out how I am going to fit it to the chassis.

Made some spotlights for the front and fixed them to the chassis.

Getting there.

Following on from yesterday, I built and engine today for the 1:24 scale scratch built Marauder tanker, as part of my RAF service set I am building to go with my 1:24 Airfix Mosquito..
Built entirely from scrap bit from the bits box, it is not an accurate representation of the engine fitted to these trucks, but it is what it is and what I had available. I like it, it looks the part.

Haven't posted anything in Agenoria for a while, But I have finished my degree now, but have also been doing other things, and very little train stuff.
I am still modelling (For myself) and have been working on my Bismarck project, which is all in bits at the moment as I finish off all the final bits of detail, and I have been working on a diorama for an Airfix 1:24 scale Mosquito. which I wanted some RAF ground service vehicles. so have scratch built a 6 wheel Marauder fuel tanker, and a couple of bomb trolley's, that will form part of the diorama.

Some castings arrived the other day, so have spent the last couple of days putting these on the models.
Just need to build the tractor now.

So what's new?

2020 is nearly upon us, hope you all had a good Christmas

As many of you will know. Andy Beeton has taken over the 0 Gauge Range, and Roger Crowe has taken over the Big Range, so any enquiries should be directed through them at Ragstone Models, and Walsall Model Industries.

I am in my last year of my Degree. I finish in May, and will hopefully be able to get a proper job then that pays a bit more.

I am still Scratch building and modelling my own etched stuff, My Bismarck has stalled a little over the last few months, mainly because of University assignment work and endless research on Construction Law and Economics. All riveting stuff.

I have also been doing a bit on my 1:24 RAF vehicles. to go with my Airfix 1:24 Mosquito diorama I am building. Plus I have been building myself a new workshop on the back of the house. A few photo's enclosed.
I will not be doing many shows outside my local area now. just don't have the time, or the inclination to travel too far anymore.

But may still see a few of you at York, Easter and Liverpool show, now moved to September, plus the odd general model show IMPS shows and Model Boat shows in the North West area.

Having sold Agenoria now, and looking for a proper job when I finish my Degree next year, I can now concentrate on my own modelling, particularly my boats.

I have been building myself a new workshop on the back of the house, it is a glorified shed/Utility, but a bit better than using the back bedroom, with a bit more space.

There are a few bits of panelling to finish off on the ceiling and around the skylights, and a bit more shelving to sort out, but I have started moving stuff in, so I can prepare the Bedroom for Christmas.

The additional space, means I can get my 1:100 Bismarck completely up, to work on.

I might even finish my 3.5 inch Scot I am trying to convert to battery electric, because the boiler is shot, and I have better things to spend a couple of grand on, than getting a new one made.

Haven't done any proper modelling for ages, while I have been building this new extension, that and my last year at Uni.
Bit I am going to try and dedicate a few more nights and the odd day to it now.
