The joy of having an antique diamond is that no two are identical. Cut by hand over a hundred years ago, each stone has its own proportions, facet arrangements, sparkle and character.

Old cut diamonds are prized for their soft and romantic glow which is very different from the harsh scintillation of modern laser cut stones.

“Jupiter et Junon” 🪐⭐️

Made in France c.1880, this agate cameo ring depicts Jupiter, king of the Roman gods, beside Juno, protector of marriage.

Their overlapping profiles are carved in exquisite detail, with layers of smoky grey, white and red bringing depth to every curl and fold of drapery.

The mount is equally fine, hand engraved with an ornate scrolling design of particular finesse - almost like a mini gilded Baroque frame.

Charmingly etched into the reverse of the cameo is a hand-engraved inscription ‘Jupiter et Junon’. Power and partnership, carved in stone - a particularly fitting pairing for a ring.

The ultimate sapphire cocktail ring 🤩

A 19ct Ceylon colour-change sapphire, unheated, silky AND cushion-cut. The gem gods really blessed us with this one.

This rare colour-change sapphire shifts from cornflower blue in daylight to wisteria purple under warm incandescent light.

It has beautiful silk, a characteristic of Ceylon sapphires that is formed by tiny rutile needles. The fine shimmering threads catch the light in subtle flashes of blue, violet and pink. 🩵💜🩷

Revealed only at certain angles, its impossible to not keep turning your hand for another look.

This vintage emerald and diamond engagement ring just went live on our website today and safe to say… we’re obsessed.

Set to centre with a natural emerald that boasts the perfect shade of emerald-green - a vibrant, and rich hue, evenly distributed throughout.

The clarity is exceptional and the double claws the emerald is set in are such an elegant detail.

It’s the 1st of October today, so it’s only right to kick start the month with a line up of some of our favourite opals 🌈

Opal is the official birthstone of October, along with the alternative tourmaline.

The Romans prized it, Queen Victoria made it fashionable and Art Nouveau jewellers adored it. With flashes of ruby-red, emerald-green and violet captured in a single stone, opal has been turning heads for centuries.

Opal is known for its spectacular iridescence, patches of bright colour which appear to change and move across the stone as its turned under light.

This optical phenomenon is known as ‘play-of-colour’ and is caused by diffraction and intereference of lightwaves as they pass through minute spheres of silica within the opal’s structure.

Why settle for one colour when you can have all seven?

Fewer rings bring more joy than an Art Deco aquamarine cocktail ring, even more so when it matches your outfit.

Original to c.1930, set to centre with an aquamarine weighing over 9ct and boasting the perfect sky-blue colour for which aquamarine is so highly prized.

look closely at the fourth slide and you’ll spot aquamarine’s characteristic ‘rain’ inclusions: minute hollow growth tubes that resemble delicate streaks of rainfall - such a lovely tiny detail 💧

The shoulders are stunning, a geometric design crafted in platinum open-work and set throughout with single-cut diamonds.

Cocktail rings came to prominence in the Roaring Twenties, worn to Prohibition-era parties as bold expressions of women’s growing independence. Less about announcing an engagement; more about announcing yourself.

Excellent with a cocktail. Equally good with jeans.

Original to c.1905, this Edwardian engagement ring might just be the finest solitaire we’ve ever seen.

The mount is a particularly refined example of ‘platinum lace’ - openwork so fine that metal appears as delicate as Venetian lace.

Set to centre with a 2.80ct old-mine cut diamond with a gorgeous warm glow. We love its elongated cushion outline and softly rounded corners - the large cullet is 😍!

Edwardian craftsmanship at its absolute best.

You know emerald, but have you met green beryl? 💚

They belong to the same mineral family, alongside aquamarine and morganite.

The distinction? Green beryl is typically lighter and less intensely saturated than emerald - a softer sage green, with a charm entirely its own.

Emerald may have the name recognition, but we think its paler relative deserves a little more attention.
