I love the peace of London in August. Fewer emails, fewer people about, not such a relentless pace to keep up with, always a parking space.

Back at it today, thinking further ahead than usual - a September photoshoot, 2 major fairs in November, even a first quiet thought about Christmas, though I’m not quite ready to say that out loud yet! All Jewellers must turn their minds to Christmas by August - that’s the rhythm of the job.

I couldn’t agree more, and it’s not because of what the jewellery looks like - I relate to this because of what a piece carries.

A ring that belonged to someone who isn’t here anymore. A pendant from the person who knows you best. A piece bought for yourself, on the day you decided something needed to change. Jewellery holds all of that quietly, on your hand or at your neck, and somehow that’s enough to make you stand a little straighter, go forward with confidence, feel the strength of others by your side when you need it most.

I think that’s the real transformation - not the piece itself, but the presence it lets you carry. Their strength, their memory, their belief in you, close enough to touch whenever you need it.

Save this for the days you need reminding who’s with you.

Introducing KE COUPLE - SAM & LAUREN! 🥂🌞
As August comes to a close with these long dreamy, summer holiday evenings, I love to look back at my KE couples’ special days. There is nothing like the feeling of seeing two people in their happiest moments wearing rings I hand made with love and care especially for them. In their own words this is Sam and Lauren’s story -
“Sam and I met as teenagers and had a brief ‘romance’ (if you could call anything romantic aged 15) and hung out as friends before losing touch for about a decade. Thankfully we re-found each other as adults and things became a bit more romantic the second time round! After being together for 8 years, having 2 children and a dog, we decided it was finally time to make things official and we got married in Islington in 2023.

We loved Katherine’s designs and the way she involved us in creating our wedding rings was exactly what we wanted as we felt part of the process, and made it feel extra special. She came up with a beautiful design for my wedding ring which compliments my engagement ring perfectly, and I love how totally unique it is.”

It was such a pleasure to work with Sam and Lauren on their rings. To see two people who had already cemented such a loving family unit, full of laughter and joy, made the union of these two all the more wonderful. I wish them every happiness.

Who has a wedding this weekend?!✨🥂
So many hands play a part in getting ready for that big moment - the ceremony, the commitment made, the ring settling onto its new finger for the first time.
This is one of them: the smallest hand of the day, entrusted with the box for a few minutes that probably felt enormous to him.

I love making wedding bands more than almost anything else I do. There’s something about being asked to make the piece that marks a beginning, knowing it’ll be there for a lifetime of memories - every major milestone and every ordinary day that follows.

Bringing an old favourite back into view: Helios & Selene Chain Rings, named for the Greek god and goddess of the sun and moon.

The morning of my best friend’s wedding I had a message from Amber asking if I had anything that would work with a midnight blue velvet dress with plunging neckline.

My mind went immediately to the my sterling silver Supernova and Shooting Pearl Pendant. From its namesake collection it carries the shimmering ‘Cosmic Dust’ texture that has become my signature paired with a blue-black statement pearl with the kind of depth and lustre that changes with movement and light.

When a fellow goldsmith asks you to make her wedding day earrings, you feel the full weight of that trust. She knows exactly what goes into a handmade piece. She knows what it takes. Her standards are just as high and I wanted to do her justice.
