THE BROKE ENTREPRENEUR · ENTRY 009

One thing I’ve learnt building CRNO is sometimes you need to step away and come back with fresh eyes.

When you’re deep into building something every single day, you can miss simple improvements, overcomplicate ideas, or become blind to things that are obvious to someone seeing it for the first time.

Recently I revisited parts of the platform after taking a step back and instantly spotted ways to improve user flow, simplify features, and make the experience stronger for police, retailers, and collectors.

Fresh eyes create clarity.
Clarity creates better ex*****on.

Sometimes progress isn’t about working harder.
It’s about resetting your perspective.

The Broke Entrepreneur Entry 008: You Never Know What Skill Will Save You Later

One thing I’ve realised on this journey building CRNO is that no skill you learn is ever wasted.

A lot of people only value skills when they directly make them money at the time. But sometimes the things you learn years earlier become the exact thing that moves your vision forward later in life.

I started doing some parts of the UI design work myself on the CRNO platform. Not because I had to, but because I understood enough from previous experience to step in and help shape the flow and functionality.

What I didn’t realise was how much this would speed the project up.

Less back and forth.
Less delays.
Clearer communication with developers and designers.
Faster ex*****on.

That “random” skill set I picked up unknowingly became one of the reasons the project progressed quicker.

Never underestimate what you already know.

Every job, every mistake, every hobby, every late-night learning session adds something to your toolbox.

One day, the dots connect.

And the skills you thought meant nothing become the reason your vision finally starts moving.

F*ck around and find out.

Most people never even try.
So guess what… they never fail.

But here’s the truth nobody talks about:

Every single successful person has failed. Repeatedly.
Let’s make it real.

Go into any gym and ask someone with a great physique one question:

“Have you ever failed a lift?”

Every single one will say yes.

Because that’s where growth lives.

Not in comfort. Not in playing it safe.

Growth comes from pushing to the point where you can’t…

And showing up again anyway.
No failure = no progress.

The Broke Entrepreneur Entry 006:
Rock Bottom
Rock bottom is real.

And when it hits, it does not ask for permission.
It is the moment where everything feels like it is closing in.

The numbers are not working.
The pressure is building.
The doubt gets louder than your vision.

You sit there thinking…

“How did I get here?”
“Is there even a way out?”
And the truth is…

there is a way out. But it starts with something most people avoid.

Accountability.

Not blaming the market.
Not blaming timing.
Not blaming other people.

Looking in the mirror and owning every decision, every risk, every move.

Because as painful as that moment is…
that is where the real learning happens.

Rock bottom will either break you
or build you into someone sharper, tougher, and harder to stop.

You do not grow when things are going well.
You grow when you are forced to face everything that went wrong
and choose to move forward anyway.

Take accountability.
Feel the pain.
Learn from it.
Then rebuild.

Because the only way out of rock bottom…
is through it.

The Broke Entrepreneur
Entry 005: Who do you bet on?

At some point, it comes down to one question.
Who do you bet on?

Do you bet on other people, excuses, fear, or waiting for the perfect time?
Or do you bet on yourself?

Because no one is coming to save you.
No one is going to hand you the life you want.
No one will believe in your vision more than you should.

There will be days when it looks rough.
Days when the numbers do not make sense.
Days when you feel behind.
Days when doubt gets loud.

But even then, who do you bet on?

I am betting on the person in the mirror.
The one who gets up and keeps going.
The one who figures it out.
The one who refuses to quit.

Bet on yourself long enough, and eventually the world has to take notice.

The Broke Entrepreneur – Entry 004

Are you legally obliged to tell your staff about potential danger at work?

Short answer: yes… to a point.

Under UK law, specifically the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, employers have a duty to protect the health, safety, and welfare of their employees as far as reasonably practicable.

That means:

• If there’s a known risk (like violence from customers, unsafe situations, or credible threats), you must inform your staff
• You should also have measures in place to reduce that risk (training, procedures, security, etc.)
• You can’t ignore something just because it’s “out of your hands”

Now here’s the reality…

You’re not expected to predict everything.
Things like random acts of terrorism or completely unforeseen incidents fall outside what you can reasonably control.

But if there is any foreseeable risk — even if you didn’t create it — you have a responsibility to:

• Assess it
• Communicate it
• Do what you can to protect your team

Because at the end of the day, business isn’t just about profit…
It’s about people.

If your team walks into a situation blind, that’s where the problem starts.

Stay aware. Stay prepared. Adapt.

The Broke Entrepreneur — Entry 003

Be mindful of every interaction… because you never know which one might last.

Every room you walk into is an opportunity.

So ask yourself — what do people see when you enter?

Presence or pressure?
Confidence or doubt?
Someone they remember… or someone they forget?

People don’t just remember what you say — they remember how you carry yourself.

The way you speak.
The way you listen.
The way you make them feel.

Move with intention.
Respect every interaction.
Because one day, one of them will matter more than you expected.

I was personally asked to deliver the 1 of 1 solid 24k gold PRIME bottle to the winner of the $500,000 PRIME Code Challenge.

I took possession of this piece on 5 December 2023.

Fast forward to today, that same bottle has increased in value by over 130%.
I wonder if the winner still has it… because if they do, they’re a millionaire now!

It just goes to show how certain precious metals can quietly turn into a fortune, if you have the patience to hold them.
