There’s no denying that 2026 has been the year of coloured gemstones, with colour and visual interest seeing a massive resurgence across fashion and jewellery this year. Our customers tend to stay one step ahead of the trend and have been asking for stones that are completely unique 💫 and we’re only too happy to oblige!
Opalescence is sticking to centre stage - it’s that soft milky glow where the light seems to move around inside the stone, with no two opalescent stones being quite the same. Sapphires are a go-to for this as their internal silk really lends itself to the glow 🌌
Garnets are having a (deserved) moment in the spotlight - varieties like Umbalite are especially popular (who can resist those raspberry reds?!) but gorgeous berry tones of purples and plums won’t be disappearing any time soon 🫐
‘Mahenge Spinel’ are the words on everybody’s lips at the moment and we can’t complain - hot pinks fit the colour brief down to the ground 💖 Beyond the pinks, spinel is a fantastic gemstone choice - when well cut it makes for one of the sparkliest stones out there, though she remains widely underrated!
Trending seafoam (and adjacent) colours are continuing to endure - mostly in tourmaline, but sapphires, beryls, spinels (+ more) can all join this surf club 🌊 With the popularity of these marine hues we’re hoping that dealers start to offer unheated aquamarine as an option. In antique jewellery aquamarine often has a green hue to it, but for the last 100 years or so it is heat treated to remove these undertones. Keep them in, I say!
