Here’s a video showing ‘Zero No Ones’ in action & a little bit of background about its meanings…
I like to play with words, disrupt punctuation, bring into focus so called ’Janus’ words using the ambiguities to encompass layers of meaning in my pieces.
‘Zeros No Ones’ is such a play. The (non)binary code:
The no mans land.
A challenge to the underlying patriarchal structure of society, to the Freudian notion of woman as lack, less than…
The zero as intensifier.
Like suffragette jewellery, this discreet little brooch is a signal, a nod of solidarity, it’s all zero pins punching out mysterious Wild Zone code.
