It's been a while since I last shared some interesting jewellery stories, so here I am, back with February's birthstone: the amethyst 💜

Amethyst is a variety of quartz, purple due to trace amounts of iron and natural radiation within its crystal structure and if exposed to high heat, it can turn orange to brown, resembling its cousin citrine.

Scroll to find out why it's been a coveted stone among the royals since ancient times. 👑

Although I have a Persian name, I don't actually have Iranian origins. I owe my name to my Italian mum, whose love for the Middle East and in particular for Iran fascinated me since childhood.

Still to this day, she tells me anecdotes of her University times and how her friends from Iran introduced her to their amazing food, rich culture, and incredible architecture that inspired the design of the Faris necklace in 18 carat yellow gold, lapis lazuli and turquoise beads.

While going through my camera roll, I found a picture of my young mum, probably in her early twenties, and I like to imagine how the necklace would have looked on her... So, I played with photoediting and added it to her outfit (although I must admit that she was rocking the layering game already!) 💎

We haven't had the chance to visit Iran yet, but it's on our bucket list and we hope to be able to do so soon. Love you, mum! ✨

Did you know that the iconic blue in Persian art comes from lapis lazuli, once valued more than gold? 💎

In Islamic architecture, deep blue domes represent the infinite heavens and divine beauty, while those stunning turquoise tiles were created using a secret copper-cobalt recipe that artisans perfected over centuries.

Today many believe blue protects against the evil eye, which is why you'll spot it everywhere from ancient palaces to modern homes and accessories! 🧿

Some say turquoise is a summer gemstone, but in my opinion its charm knows no seasons! Even paired with a cozy sweater, the Badawi necklace with turquoise beads feels like a little bit of magic you can wear all year round. 💎❄️

The Anaar necklace in 18k yellow gold features diamonds and rubies, whose story dates back centuries. Did you know that ancient Sanskrit texts called rubies "ratnaraj," meaning "king of precious stones"?

And here's a little gem secret: throughout history, many famous "rubies" turned out to be red spinels or garnets! Even the Black Prince's Ruby in Britain's Crown Jewels is actually a red spinel. 👑

Swipe to journey through time, where each portrait reveals more than just adornments, but windows into power, culture, and identity. As a jewellery designer, I find endless inspiration in historical pieces that feel surprisingly modern.

From Renaissance pearls to Mughal gemstones, it's fascinating how these treasures shaped fashion and society to this very day. Even more intriguing? How wearable they all still are today! 💎
