Here’s when to get in before the year winds down:

You don't have to wait to be given it.

Some of our favourite pieces leave the shop with the person who'll be wearing them. Sometimes there's an occasion, like a birthday with a zero in it, a retirement, or a year that deserves marking. Sometimes it's simply deciding you've waited long enough.

If that's you, a few we'd point you towards. The Oval signet in recycled 9ct gold, which can be engraved with your initials. Our diamond studs, the pair you'll reach for every single morning. The Mini Ava, a small heart-shaped diamond solitaire that looks just as right on a little finger as anywhere else. And the Heavy Figaro chain in gold-plated recycled silver, which has a lovely weight to it and works over a jumper or an open collar.

The rings and studs are handmade in our Exmouth Market workshop, and you're very welcome to come in and try them on at 41 Exmouth Market or find them online 💛

The gold was in the family long before Etta was 💛

When our founder Ali's daughter Etta turned 18, Ali went to her jewellery box and took out one of her own old gold rings. She'd stopped wearing it years ago. It hadn't stopped being hers.

We designed a disc pendant in CAD, cast it in that same gold, and set it with a single diamond. Etta's is hung with a key, a little gold bunny and her birthstone, a green peridot.

It wasn't the first time. Ali did the same for Marnie's 18th, so now all three of them wear one.

Each has its owner's birthstone and its own engraving. Ali's is song lyrics. The girls' are Bible verses and a saying that's just for them. Marnie has a little mouse and Etta a bunny, after their nicknames.

If there's a ring in a drawer at yours that nobody wears, it might just be waiting for the right birthday.

A whole year of birthdays, small enough to wear.

Twelve months engraved into one pendant. Five of them catch the light, a birthstone set into the exact month it belongs to, one for each of her children.

No name needed on this one. She knows exactly which stone is whose, and which birthday made her decide that a card and a candle weren't quite enough this year.

We handcraft the pendant in our London workshop and set each stone by hand once we know which months matter, no two of these are ever quite the same.

It's the kind of piece you don't take off. Which, for someone who's spent years keeping everyone else's dates in her head, feels like the right amount of credit.

What people want in an engagement ring has quietly shifted.

Five years ago, most requests were for a white gemstone, delicate settings, and slim bands around 1.85mm. Fran, our bespoke consultant, is seeing something different now - warmer gemstones, pale yellows and colour, and much more substantial bands, often 3-5mm with a larger stone.

Bigger, bolder, more individual. Fran would know, he’s watched the shift happen.

This stone had already been in the family for years before it needed a ring built around it.

It's a 12.61 carat green tourmaline - the kind of colour that shifts and deepens as the light moves across it.

We started with a wax model, shaped to hold it high enough to catch that colour shift properly.

Double claws at each corner, a hidden halo, and diamond shoulders built in - all doing one job: making sure the stone is the only thing you notice.

The white gold is the customer's own too, reworked rather than bought new.

Handcrafted in our London workshop, from a stone and a metal that were already theirs, long before they were ours to work with.
