As a small independent brand, hearing that someone has travelled from New York just to visit you stops you in your tracks.

Around a year ago we were visited by T&C after they came across our work. We knew they were visiting from New York, but it wasn’t until the meeting began that it dawned on us they had travelled to London solely to see us.

Over the following months, we worked together on a design that encapsulated everything they loved about our work. A balanced piece, timeless and sophisticated in nature yet still perfectly unique to them. A splash of colour, light and subtle so as not to overwhelm, but enough to spark a quiet intrigue.

We were so touched by their visit. While we created a ring they will cherish for a lifetime and beyond, they created a moment and memory for us that will stay with us forever. Thank you.

Welcome to Colombia.

Our search for Colombian emeralds was led by Sam & Laura , alongside a film crew and a team of local experts.

The expedition spanned ten days and took us from the heart of Bogotá into the jungle regions of Muzo and Chivor - areas renowned for producing some of the world’s most exceptional emeralds - before returning to the laboratories in the city.

Here are some of our favourite behind-the-scenes moments from a journey that shaped the Origins Collection (or you can watch our full film, documenting the trip, at the link in bio.)

Intricate detail and elegant silhouettes. In a floral and organic design a Royal Blue Sri Lankan sapphire sits nestled between an array of pear and round shaped diamonds.

As ever, we delight in the details that aren’t always visible at a first glance.

A gemologist can wear many hats. From the heart of the jungle to the glamour of unveiling new creations, Blackacre Head Gemologist Laura has seen it all. In her own words...

"I still remember my first week with Blackacre, we were working from cafes in London...things have changed a little bit, it's been quite the journey to get to where we are today. That journey is something I am really proud of.

When it comes to our expeditions, I love being able to understand the history & story behind a stone. Not necessarily just once it's been cut, but the millennia beforehand when it's being formed underground. It's a privilege to be able to turn these precious gems into pieces of jewellery to be carried through their life.

Here's to more adventures in the future! I've got my diving mask at the ready for pearls..."

The Origins Collection goes back to the start of our journey. Blackacre Founder, Samuel Stirrat’s earliest memories of collecting pebbles on the beaches or on sides of streams form the foundations of the Origins Collection.

Together the group of pebbles form a cohesive and homogenous shape, yet each one within the group is so unqiue and intricate. Within these organic and assymetrical structures, each time you look you notice something new. It is this rich detail within that creates a deep intrigue.

Here’s a look at some of the inspiration behind the collection and how those childhood beginnings informed every design:

1. The Paraiba Tourmaline Origins ring placed on a rock, echoing the landscapes that shaped the collection. Styled and shot by

2. Pebbles gathered on a beach in Northern Ireland during a family holiday, heralding back to moments that first sparked (and continue to inspire) Samuel’s interest in the natural world.

3. Early design explorations studying how clusters of pebbles sit together, expressed through watercolour and sketch.

4. Waves lapping against the shore, with one pebble at the bottom left catching the attention. A phenomenon carried through each of the designs.

5. Translating the language of pebbles into the designs form, structure and setting.

6. The finished product - The Origins Paraiba Ring. Featuring an unheated natural Paraiba Tourmaline from the Baltaha mine in Brazil.

7. The Origin’s collection, as seen on the team.
