Hannah Bedford’s jewellery designs explore texture and form using the traditional process of granulation. Working in precious metals, Hannah creates a range of women’s jewellery, from intricate necklaces to bespoke engagement and wedding rings. Collections are inspired by organic growth patterns in the natural world. Hannah uses granulation to create raised, textured surfaces that entwine each pie

ce. Fine granulation encaptures precious stones and interlaces between surfaces, linking bangles and weaving across rings. The work is often led by these technical explorations, using them to play with scale, form and contrasting precious metals to create aesthetically beautiful forms. Each piece is carefully handcrafted in her London studio, and her jewellery collections are exhibited nationally. Hannah also works with clients, to create beautiful bespoke commissions. All pieces are handcrafted at Hannah’s studio at Cockpit Arts Deptford, in the hub of South London’s creative community.

I’m delighted to have my Adorn Halo Ring — a piece that holds real significance for me — included in the gallery’s 20th‑anniversary exhibition (6 June–4 July). The showcase brings together memorable works by the designers who have shaped Victoria Sewart Gallery over the years.

Victoria was one of the very first to exhibit my jewellery back in 2006, when I was just an artist in residence and beginning to develop my granulation aesthetic. I’m so grateful that Victoria trusted her creative instincts and since then, our journeys have run in parallel in many ways. Congratulations Victoria and here's to the next 20 years!

A quiet glow... I love the gentle luminosity and soft tones of this bespoke Adorn Pendant, crafted entirely from my client’s own tanzanite, diamonds and 9ct gold. 💌 A letter from the blue 💌 Every so often, something arrives that stops you in your tracks. While keeping the sender’s anonymity fully respected, I want them to know their letter has been safely received — and how deeply moving it was to be trusted with its contents.

Inside was a donation of precious materials, offered with nothing asked in return except that they be reworked to support a charitable project.

Ahh I'm glowing after this feedback. So pleased with the lovely flow of tonal cognac sapphires and white diamonds in this bespoke Granule Sea Ring. The granulation formation has a gentle curve which allows the design to nestle perfectly with my client’s engagement ring.

Deep Sea Urchin Pendant... It was so special to transform my client’s treasured pieces into this new wearable heirloom — deep in meaning and rich with memory.

“When my mother died I inherited her jewellery – a diamond engagement ring, a plain gold wedding band and a garnet dress ring. None of them fitted me and I already had my own engagement and wedding rings and so sadly they were put away in a drawer. Occasionally I got them out and thought about my mother, and then they went back again.”

Having seen my Sea Urchin designs at , my client was inspired to explore remodelling these special rings into a contemporary pendant. We carefully refined and revitalised her precious materials, and meticulously developed this one-of-a-kind piece. In the light, the velvet-rich garnet flashes red in this new setting, which is really magical.

“The day arrived when the new jewellery was ready for collection – very exciting as I had never done anything like this before. And the new pieces are stunning, absolutely fulfilling the brief of converting something old into modern jewellery which I can now wear whilst always being reminded of my mother. I’m sure that she would be just as thrilled that new life has been breathed into her rings.”
