🌟 Last night, we saw legacy in motion

We were so proud to host Legacy in Motion: An Inherited Light Conversation, presented in collaboration with as part of Camden’s Black History Season 💙🧡💛

And it couldn’t have taken place in a more meaningful setting. Camden Town Hall is where Claudia Jones helped lay the foundations for what would become Notting Hill Carnival, one of Britain’s most iconic celebrations of Caribbean culture and community.

Following a special screening of Inherited Light, generations of Caribbean-British trailblazers came together for an empowering conversation about carrying our legacies forward, taking action today and creating meaningful change.

There were inspiring stories, fresh perspectives and brilliant audience questions, as well as joyful moments of song, connection and celebration.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special. The conversation doesn’t end here. 💙🧡💛

Welcome to our new Black History Season Series, Hidden Histories of Camden 🔎🏛️

Throughout this series we’ll be exploring the people, stories and exhibits that bring Camden’s Black history to life, celebrating the remarkable residents whose contributions help shape the borough we know today.

Although Black History Month is at the half-way point for the UK, here in Camden, we are just getting started. Join us as we celebrate their achievements, honour their legacies, and shine a light on stories that deserve to be remembered.

To launch Hidden Histories of Camden, we’re shining a spotlight🔦 on Dr Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, the founder of UK Black History Month. His determination to ensure that Black achievements, contributions and histories were recognised helped generations learn, celebrate and take pride in Black History.

His legacy is a powerful reminder that history is made by those who dare to change it.

Dr Akyaaba Addai-Sebo's story is just the beginning. Follow along as we uncover more Hidden Histories of Camden and celebrate the Black residents who helped shape our borough.

Who should we feature next? 💭Let us know in the comments. 👇
