Aldo Cipullo for Cartier.

Cipullo has long been one of my personal favourite designers and despite sadly living such a short life, he made an indelible mark on the jewellery world and left us with iconic designs that will spread joy forever. This vintage necklace is just so chic, the colours of the black onyx, carnelian and polished 18ct yellow gold make it so versatile and just a fantastic, bold jewel for almost any occasion.

Rare Holbeinesque earrings of dreams ❤️

During the Victorian era, ‘Holbeinesque’ jewelry became popular, inspired by the detailed portraits and sketches of Hans Holbein the Younger, a renowned 16th-century artist. Holbein, esteemed court painter to Henry VIII, created exceptional depictions of Tudor royalty and nobility, providing a vivid window into the past for generations to come.

Victorian jewelers emulated the Renaissance style found in Holbein’s portraits, characterised by ornate enamel work and central coloured gemstones - reflecting a fascination with the opulence of the Tudor period and the revival of historical designs. Finding jewels from this period in such immaculate condition is exciting and particularly rare and unusual to find earrings.

Unleashing our wild side with these vintage panther earrings by Bulgari! 🐾✨ Such beautifully carved onyx faces, they capture that perfect blend of gentle elegance and fierce power.

When you think of wild motifs in Bulgari’s creations, the iconic Serpenti collection will undoubtedly be first to come to mind. Yet, in the late 1950s and early 1960s, Bulgari also crafted fantastic pieces featuring panthers and lions, showing that embracing the wild is deeply ingrained in the brand’s DNA.

These vintage panther earrings are crafted with carved onyx and mounted in 18ct white gold, they also have the most vibrant green eyes!

A beautiful and rare masterpiece showcasing Japanese artistry and the beauty of shakudo.

This shakudo cross pendant from the Meiji period, circa 1880, the cross itself is made from 18ct gold and the shakudo panels either side beautifully depict very different scenes. On one side branches with three charming golden owls - the owl symbolise luck and offer protection in Japanese culture. The other side a floral scene with lillies and a grasshopper in the centre which is another symbol of luck - grasshoppers can often be seen in Japanese art amongst other popular insects and symbolic motifs. Which side is your favourite?!

Shakudo was shrouded in mystery for a long time and was used by the finest sword makers on mounts and guards - the technique being used in jewellery was due to social transform, the Samurai were banned from bearing arms in 1876 and the master craftsmen turned their skills towards the decorative arts. During the Victorian era the popularity of Japanese art soared and exceptional jewels were created during this period incorporating wonderful shakudo work from this period.

Timeless 🐍 This antique snake bangle captures centuries of symbolism and enduring style… from symbolising royalty and divinity in Ancient Egypt to Queen Victoria’s snake engagement ring from Prince Albert. The motif has been adored and interpreted by so many designers over the years, from Elsa Peretti for Tiffany & Co. to Bulgari creating the incredibly iconic Serpenti collection.

🐚 New Arrivals! 🐚 Consistently sunny days seem to be evading us here in London this Summer… my suggestion - summery jewellery that will bring those sunshine vibes no matter what… ☀️

These vintage 18ct yellow gold and diamond seashell earrings have the French maker’s mark of Atelier Jean Ronsous - a workshop that created jewels in the 1950s - 60s for some of the finest Maisons and particularly for Jacques Lacloche.

These undoubtedly need to be worn to a summer soirée asap…

A recent arrival to the townhouse! A deliciously chunky bombé snakewood and 18ct yellow gold heart pendant by René Boivin circa 1970. The pendant has a certificate of authenticity which also confirms a little background - that it is an original piece created by Maison Boivin after a drawing by Marie-Caroline de Brosses.

Swipe 👉 to see it in wear for context of size… I have worn it on a vintage 18ct yellow gold anchor link chain which pairs well in my opinion but is certainly not compulsory! How would you wear it? Long or shorter?
