Not quite the day for the beach but so glad for the rain. Due to the underground train strikes we will be in the shop Wednesday and Saturday this week. Hopefully on time -depending on transport. No name on these great clip earrings but just the thing for a seaside trip. -

Need another cup of coffee after trying to get these to balance with the picture upright. Too lazy to get off sofa and find the blue tac. Do love them. Reminds me of when I was young. We did not throw away our lipstick cases. We dug out the remains and put in a new refil. Messy job! The one hiding - but propping up the others is a Kigu. The lipstick clips to the back of the mirror. Memories of a time passed.

Wearing some French jet today. However French jet is actually an illegal description as it is neither French nor jet. It is actually black glass made in Czech. (Or what was known as Bohemia.) In the trade we have always called it French jet. A very long time ago a market dealer sold a pair of earrings with a label 'FrenchJet'. When the customer realised it wasn't jet she complained to our StandardsTrading Department and insisted the dealer was prosecuted. The dealer defended herself and got Helen Muller - an expert on jet- to help. She did not get a conviction but had to pay costs. This sent shock waves throughout the business and everyone took to being careful of their descriptions. I have always remembered the case and the effect it had at the time. Anyone else remember this? I am careful with my descriptions now! memory

Too hot to go into Alfies and I don't think tomorrow will be any better. The dreaded conversion from copper wiring to router is happening soon and am trying - in the heat -to get my head round it. Anyway this diamante and mauve glass drops necklace is heading for the web site. Looks black in the photo. Might need some more coffee first.

Phew - too hot for me. Am staying in until it cools a bit so may not be in Alfies. Strict instructions from relatives and friends. Found this orchard brooch when tidying. I remember that someone wanted to buy it but it could not be found. If it was you please contact me - otherwise it is going into the shop. indoors

Why don't I just sit still and read the paper on such a hot day. No - I have to try to photograph this wonderful German Art Deco red, black and channel set diamanté bracelet. Marked D.R.G.M. and a patent number. When I can face the larger computer it will go on the Web Site. Once again - one of my own pieces I decided to part with. So Deco! #

Pressing on with my determination to scale down my collection. This bag is amazing but I know nothing about it. It appears to be painted. Not sure if by hand. A little paint is coming off. It is a very flat felt bag with a green lining. The first picture folds in half for front and back. Castle picture is inside front. It forms one large picture. You could undo the sides and frame the thing as one picture. It needs seeing and could take into the shop. Let me know if you are interested.

Raising a toast this evening - but not in the garden! Some time ago I was informed somebody was going to use my business title if I did not engage them to register my trade mark. Decided to do it myself. It wasn't difficult or too expensive. I have just heard that it has now gone through. I now have a trade mark for 'Gillian Horsup Vintage Jewellery' for all sorts of categories. Whether it will ever be of use to me I have no idea - but I quite like the idea of it! So if anyone else needs to do it - you can do it yourself!

This is one of my favourite brooches and I am reluctant to part with it. However I rarely go anywhere to wear it and it is time to let go. Will put it on to the web site later. Not the cheapest diamante brooch but for me one of the best I have had. Just love green diamante!
