🦁 The Lion Ring – From Design to Final Transformation 💍

This one has been a proper transformation from start to finish.

Beginning as a CAD design, the lion slowly came to life — from the first details on screen, through printing and casting, to all the finishing work that turned it into the final ring.

💻 Another step forward with CAD! 💍

I’ve been putting a lot of time into learning jewellery CAD recently, and this is one of my latest pieces taking shape in Rhino.

Coming from a hands-on jewellery background, learning to design digitally has been a completely new challenge — but I’m really enjoying seeing the skills start to come together.

There’s still plenty for me to learn, but every design is getting me closer to being able to take a piece from an idea, through CAD, and eventually into a finished piece of jewellery.

I’ve been working on something new behind the scenes and I’m pleased to finally share it.

Gardner’s Gold Jewellery CAD Journal is a new monthly digital magazine focused on jewellery CAD, design and manufacture.

The first issue follows the creation of the Lion Signet Ring, looking at the process from the initial idea and CAD build through to the practical considerations needed to turn a digital design into a piece of jewellery.

I want the journal to be useful rather than just something nice to look at, so future issues will include real projects, step-by-step Rhino tutorials, CAD tips, manufacturing advice, stone setting, troubleshooting and some of the business side of jewellery CAD too.

It’s aimed at anyone interested in jewellery CAD — whether you’re just starting out, already designing, or simply want to learn more about how jewellery goes from an idea on a screen to a finished piece.
