Three commissions left the studio this month. This one took the longest. Not because it was technically complex, but because it had to feel exactly right before it left.

A solitaire, but held differently. Minimal, precise, and built around a specific beginning. The client knows which one. When she sees it for the first time, I think she’ll know immediately that it marks exactly that moment. That is what I find most interesting about this work: the piece is finished, but the meaning was already there before the first sketch.

Come with me on my holiday. Laptop open, commission notes next to the sunscreen, client calls from a terrace. This is what running a bespoke jewellery house actually looks like.
Breakfast with a side of gemstone sourcing. A swim, then back to the design. Turns out the best ideas come when you are not trying to have them.

Most people have something they are saving for a special occasion. The Current is not that. It is for the woman who is already in her element and wants something that keeps up with her - not something set aside for later.
No milestone needed. No occasion. You reach for it on a Tuesday because you feel like it, and it is exactly right.

You don’t need a complete brief to start a bespoke commission. Most people already have a starting point without realising it.
The images you’ve saved, the shapes you keep coming back to, the feeling that something is close but not quite right. That’s enough. The conversation is where the piece actually starts to take shape.

A solitaire is not a boring choice. A default is. And the difference between the two is exactly what this is about.

The conversation around whether solitaires are overdone tends to miss the point. It’s not the format that makes a ring feel generic. It’s when the design begins with the shape rather than the person. Change the starting point and the same silhouette becomes something entirely different. Something that could only ever belong to one person. Which is, of course, the whole idea.

Lab-grown vs natural diamond. It's one of the most searched questions in fine jewellery right now, and the answer is more nuanced than most guides will tell you.

They are chemically identical. Same carbon structure, same material. Even an expert gemologist cannot tell them apart by eye. But the question worth asking isn't which one looks better. It's why you're choosing one over the other, because that reason changes everything about the decision. If you're leaning towards lab-grown for ethical reasons, it's worth looking more closely before you decide. The reality is more complex than the marketing suggests. If it's about value, that's a completely valid reason. Just be honest about it, because that honesty will lead you to a much better choice.
