October is the month for opals!

This showstopping opal ring is the newest addition to Georgina Hopkin’s jewellery collection and is currently glittering away in our front window showcase. The organic 9ct gold swirls beautifully frame this Ancients17 opal, mined from Lightning Ridge in Australia.

The iridescence of the opal is beautifully reflected in the shimmery glaze of Caroline Couzen’s lidded ceramic pot, a perfect paring!

Opals were considered among the most magical of gemstones. Because of their highly desirable play of colors and stunning natural attributes, the opal was highly valued and coveted, and used to be considered the stone of kings. It is also the stone given to celebrate 14 years of marriage.
