☀️ Barcelona from above: a view worth melting for! 🇪🇸✨

Throwback to May 2024, when I visited the magnificent Palau Nacional de Montjuïc in Barcelona. 🏛️💛

It was an absolutely scorching day, but the breathtaking panoramic views made every step worthwhile! 😍 From the grand palace steps, I could admire the sweeping cityscape, the iconic Plaça d’Espanya and the stunning views stretching across Barcelona.

Built for the 1929 International Exposition, this impressive palace stands majestically on Montjuïc hill, overlooking the city. Its grand architecture, beautiful surroundings and elevated position make it a truly spectacular place to visit. ✨

Blue skies, glorious sunshine and unforgettable views; Barcelona certainly knows how to make an impression! ❤️☀️

✨ Casa Vicens Gaudí, Barcelona / May 2024 🇪🇸

I booked a guided tour here and I’m SO glad I did! If it’s your first visit, I’d definitely recommend one; there are so many little details you could easily miss.

Casa Vicens was designed by Antoni Gaudí as a summer residence and built between 1883–1885. And here’s what shocked me 😱 Gaudí was only 30 when he started it, and they completed the whole thing in just TWO YEARS! 😱😱

Current builders could NEVER. 😂

The colourful tiles were absolutely beautiful, inside and out, and I was especially fascinated by the incredible ceilings and intricate details everywhere.

Even the patio was gorgeous; the jasmine blooming above the café filled the whole area with the most beautiful fragrance. 🌿🤍

And of course, I had to bring home a little piece of it 🌻 I bought a sunflower tile from the gift shop, inspired by the same motif used throughout the building.

One of my favourite Gaudí discoveries in Barcelona. ✨

The perfect Barcelona find 🇪🇸🍷

After spending the whole day exploring Barcelona, I was tired, hungry and absolutely starving when I stumbled upon this little tapas bar, La Vinateria del Call, La Vinateria del Call and what a wonderful find it was.

With its brick walls, wooden table and stools opposite the bar, it had the cosiest, warmest atmosphere, exactly what I needed at the end of a long day.

I enjoyed padrón peppers, baby squid, octopus and cured pork, all washed down with a glass of Prosecco. 🍷 To finish, there was a silky, creamy Crema Catalana. 🤍✨

One of those unplanned meals that becomes one of your favourite memories of a trip. Barcelona, May 2024. 🇪🇸

🍷🇪🇸 A little tapas gem in Barcelona

After walking around Barcelona all day, I was absolutely starving when I stumbled upon El Bandoler by La Alcoba La Alcoba in May 2024.

I found the cosiest little spot by the entrance, sitting at a wooden table and stool opposite the bar. I ordered octopus, baby squid, padrón peppers and cured pork, followed by a crème catalana to finish. 🤤

The food was delicious, but what made the visit even more memorable was the atmosphere; the bar was filled with locals, giving it that wonderfully authentic, unpretentious Barcelona feel.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones you find when you’re simply hungry and wandering. ❤️

✨ In the Mind of Gaudí by Refik Anadol ✨

The Gaudí Cube was probably the most futuristic part of my visit to Casa Batlló.

Stepping into this 360° immersive room genuinely felt like stepping into The Matrix. Surrounded by enormous moving visuals, colours and digital patterns, I completely lost my sense of where the room ended and the artwork began.

It was mesmerising, surreal and almost otherworldly; a fascinating contrast to Gaudí’s original architecture.

A truly unforgettable way to finish the Casa Batlló experience. ✨

Some of my favourite areas in Casa Batlló; where Gaudí’s imagination feels almost underwater. 🌊✨

The room where the Prosecco was served 🥂, beneath a spectacular chandelier set into a ceiling that looks like waves of whipped cream.

The corridor resembles the bones of a whale 🐋, while the tiled walls have a beautiful, almost permanently wet appearance, like looking into a sliced-open sea.

Every detail feels organic and fluid, as if the entire building is alive and moving. 🫧

Gaudí really did have an extraordinary imagination. ✨

✨ Casa Batlló; from the first step to the rooftop ✨

A little photo journey through my visit to Casa Batlló in May 2024. 🇪🇸

Starting with that little plastic coin 🪙 for my glass of Prosecco 🥂, then moving through the incredible details inside; the flowing shapes, colourful mosaics, beautiful windows and Gaudí’s wonderfully imaginative interiors.

And finally, up to the rooftop, where the iconic dragon’s back comes into view. 🐉✨

Every room had something different to discover, and the closer you look, the more fascinating Gaudí’s imagination becomes.

✨ Stepping inside Casa Batlló ✨

And this is where the magic really begins! ✨

When I entered, I was given a little plastic coin to exchange for a glass of Prosecco 🥂, plus a tablet and headphones included in the package I had chosen.

And honestly, I’d strongly recommend choosing a ticket that includes the tablet!✨

Through the tablet’s lens, Gaudí’s imaginary world comes alive. 🪄 The windows transform into turtle shells 🐢, the fireplace takes on the appearance of a mushroom 🍄, and suddenly the building and its rooms feel like living, breathing creatures.

It completely changes the way you experience Casa Batlló; you’re not just looking at Gaudí’s architecture, you’re seeing the world through his imagination. ✨

The perfect introduction to Casa Batlló.

Before exploring the house itself, visitors step into the Gaudí Dôme; an immersive experience inspired by the natural world that shaped Gaudí’s imagination. The dark surroundings, mesmerising lights and powerful visuals create a magical atmosphere that feels both mysterious and enchanting.

A beautiful way to begin the journey through one of Barcelona’s most iconic landmarks.
