When life gives you lemons, what do you do? You make G&T!

That's exactly what's going to happen with this Saturday.

There will be a slight change, and actually, it's giving me the opportunity to try something that I had been thinking about for a little while, which is moving my in-person jewellery making experience to online.

It's beginner's friendly and we will be making a really nice textured cigar band adjustable ring.

So if you would like to try something a little bit different and to discover the pleasure to work with your hands to make a wearable piece of jewelry that's uniquely yours, well, I would love for you to join me online.

Give me a piece of copper, a hammer and a few tools, and I'll happily lose myself at the jewellery bench.

There's something wonderfully satisfying about watching a flat piece of metal gradually take shape. A few hammer marks here, a little experimenting there, and suddenly you're making something you can actually wear.

And I'd love you to experience that for yourself!

On Saturday 17 October, I'm hosting a small jewellery-making experience at Art Hub in Woolwich, where I'll guide you through hammering, texturing and forming your own piece of jewellery.

No previous experience needed. I keep the group to just six people so there's plenty of time to experiment, ask questions and enjoy the process.

And yes, you get to wear your creation home!

What if the next piece of jewellery you wore was one you'd made yourself?

On Saturday 17 October, I'm back at Art Hub in Woolwich for one of my small jewellery-making experiences.

You'll get your hands on the tools, hammer and shape the metal and experience that rather satisfying moment when it starts becoming something you can actually wear.

No previous jewellery-making experience is needed. I deliberately keep the group to a maximum of six people, so I can work with everyone individually and give you plenty of time at the bench.

Well, this put a smile on my face!

I wasn't looking for gemstones when I went to my local car boot yesterday.
Then I spotted this little bounty!

Pearls, blues, purples, smoky greys and that glorious shot of almost electric green, all thrown together in the glorious autumn sunshine
Colour everywhere, with tiny sparks of light dancing across the table.

My creative brain is now having rather too much fun.
I have absolutely no idea yet what all of these will become.
And that's part of the joy isn't it?

There is more to Confetti than meets the eye.

I've already shown you how I turn the necklaces into bangles.

Here's another way I wear them.

I take two shorter Confetti necklaces, connect them together and suddenly I have one long necklace.

And because they're individual necklaces, I can choose which colours I want to put together.

Here I've gone for blue and white. Another day, it could be something completely different.

That's very much how I designed Confetti to work: simple pieces that give you possibilities.

And I'm not quite finished yet.

That extra blue necklace at the end? It has another role to play. I’ll show you next.

I love a good rummage at my local car boot.

You never quite know what you're going to find, and this time I came home with two old hammers.

They're not specialist jewellery tools, but they're exactly the kind of hammers I can put to good use in my jewellery-making classes.

They're a good size and weight for the work we'll be doing, they're beautifully worn in, and after a little clean-up they'll be ready for many more years of use.

I particularly like that they'll be starting another chapter in the hands of people learning to work with metal for the first time.

Good tools don't need to be new to do a very good job.

And these two certainly aren't ready for retirement yet.

Most statement necklaces ask you to compromise.

I wanted something different.

Sometimes, the best design isn't about adding more.

It's about removing the little inconveniences that stop you wearing something you love.

Sometimes you have to look backwards to understand where you are going.

I made 'Venus' for my mum a few years ago, from a piece of seashell that I found while beach-combing in Normandy where my family comes from and where I have spent every summer of my life, just as the generations before me did.

I intentionally kept the fragment exactly as I found it, cast it in silver and finished with a pearl. I then contrasted its organic form with a square open shank worn on its edge.

Even then, I already knew where I wanted to take Essemgé.

I wanted to create jewellery that became more than something beautiful to wear. Jewellery that could hold memories, mark moments and become part of a person's own story.

What I didn't yet realise was that Venus already contained some of the visual ideas that I still explore today.

Looking back today, I can see the first seeds of Sea Breeze and the beginning of a design language rooted in finding beauty in unexpected overlooked places, transformation rather than disguise, balancing organic and structure, memory and place.

I'm therefore particularly honoured that Venus has been selected for The Lost Archive – Second Edition by Lost in Jewellery Magazine, an editorial archive dedicated to jewellery, memory and meaning.

There is something rather fitting about an archive helping me recognise the beginnings of my own. Our past leaves clues.
