What happens when a jewel begins to move?

**

The Boat Ring takes the ancient symbolism of the circle, continuity, cycles, return, and gives it a physical rhythm. At its centre, a miniature boat rotates within the ring, suspended between departure and arrival, between the desire to anchor and the impulse to explore.

Designed by Maurizio Fusari for Maria Kerner, the piece reflects an approach to jewellery rooted as much in sculpture as in goldsmithing. Fusari learned the craft in his father’s workshop before collaborating with the renowned sculptor Giò Pomodoro, an experience that helped shape his distinctive language of volume, movement and material.

The result is a piece that refuses to be merely decorative. Gold becomes structure; the moving boat becomes symbol; the ring becomes a landscape in perpetual motion.

A jewel for those who know that standing still and moving forward are not always opposites.

Renato Órdenes San Martín seems less interested in representing reality than in catching it as it disappears.

***

A visual artist, teacher and researcher, he moves freely between sculpture, drawing, installation, graphics and text, building works from the unstable territory between the familiar and the uncanny.

***

Dreams, ghosts, family stories, spirits and fragments of memory run through his practice. His fascination with the spectral has deep roots: his grandmother and aunt were healers and curanderas, and the stories, beliefs and rituals inherited from them became part of his visual imagination. For Órdenes, these are not distant myths but living material, something to listen to, collect and transform.

Elusive images emerge without a fixed plan, changing as they are made, guided by intuition, accident and discovery. Renato describes art almost as a necessity: a way of breathing, surviving, and remaining connected to himself.

A ring turns, returns, and carries its own sense of time. A circle has no true beginning or end: only departure, movement, and the possibility of return.

***

At the heart of the Boat Ring, a small vessel spins freely, caught between stillness and motion, a metaphor for the journeys we take without knowing where they will lead: the tension between holding on and letting go, between finding a place to anchor and choosing to drift.

***

Created for Maria Kerner by Maurizio Fusari, one of the most singular voices in contemporary Italian goldsmithing.

Trained in his father’s workshop and later working alongside sculptor Giò Pomodoro, Fusari developed a language where jewlery becomes sculpture in miniature: objects with weight, presence, and a life beyond ornament.

Cast in gold and animated by its rotating centrepiece, the Boat Ring is less a jewel than a small talisman: a reminder that sometimes the journey itself is the destination.

Stefan Stoikov’s paintings exist between memory and the present, where ancient myths, historical imagery and the visual language of contemporary culture begin to speak to one another.

His compositions are expressive and intuitive, often drawing on mythology, cultural references and art-historical echoes, filtering them through a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

***

Classical imagery can suddenly meet the visual codes of mass culture; familiar symbols become ambiguous, layered and strangely alive.

Beneath this dialogue between past and present runs a fascination with human solitude, memory and the ways images survive, transform and acquire new meanings over time.
