I took my kids to the Frida Kahlo exhibition at Tate Modern last week.

I missed the last one in the early 2000s - I wasn’t so interested in art in general back then…I was more into antique markets than museums, and I definitely couldn’t imagine having children one day 😅

So quite a lot has changed… or maybe I’m simply just getting older!

It was so interesting to learn that Frida wasn’t always as famous as she is today.
Her reputation really started to grow a couple of decades after her death, particularly through the Chicano movement and Mexican-American activism in the 1970s.

She could never have imagined becoming such an icon in the 21st century.
Her face is everywhere now - even as animated illustrations printed on Converse All Stars!

My favourite is the first picture - her first ever self portrait.
Frida before she became the Frida Kahlo we all know today.
