You can't assume your ring can be resized later.

With a full eternity band, stones run all the way round, leaving no plain section for straightforward resizing.

We've spent more than two decades helping customers find a comfortable fit before they commit.

In the same size M, you'll feel a difference between a thin 2mm band and a wider 6mm design.

Your fingers change size with temperature too.

For daily wear, you need enough room to stay comfortable without risking the ring slipping off.

When comparing sizes, you'll see UK letters, US numbers and European measurements in millimetres.

At The Diamond Box in North London, we measure your finger at no charge using calibrated metal ring sizers.

We check your knuckle too.

You can try different widths and styles, including platinum, white gold and yellow gold, before choosing.

Everything you need to know before buying the Rolex Land-Dweller.

Rolex released the Land-Dweller in April 2025. It's the first entirely new collection since the Sky-Dweller launched in 2012, and we're now over a year on from that release. For a brand that rarely moves like this, it's worth understanding what actually changed and how it's landed.

Here's what makes it different to any Rolex before it:

1. A completely new movement. The calibre 7135 runs on the Dynapulse escapement, replacing the Swiss lever system Rolex used since the brand began. Made entirely from silicon, it runs at 36,000 beats per hour, needs no lubrication, and resists magnetism.

2. Thirty-two patent applications filed. Sixteen concern the movement alone. That's an unusual level of transparency for Rolex.

3. A transparent caseback. Only the third time they've done it. They want you to see inside, which says something about how confident they are in what's there.

4. A design language borrowed from the Oysterquartz era. The angular look Rolex made in the 70s and 80s and quietly set aside. The Flat Jubilee bracelet flows directly out of the case with no interruption.

As for who it's built for: the Land-Dweller sits between the everyday versatility of the Datejust and the prestige of the Day-Date. It's dressed enough for formal occasions, slim enough to wear daily without thinking about it, and technical enough to satisfy collectors who want substance behind the dial.

A worn pin breaks. The watch hits the floor.

That's usually how bracelet "stretch" ends when it gets ignored for long enough.

The odd thing is the metal never stretches. What happens is the pins inside the links wear down, the holes they sit in widen, and tiny gaps build up across forty-odd links until the whole bracelet sags.

After twenty years of handling these watches, the same ones keep showing it first.

Older hollow-link bracelets from the 70s through the 90s. Jubilees, because five links per row means more places for wear to settle in. Gold Presidents too, gold is soft, and the centre links can wear thin long before they look worn.

Caught early, it's a small thing. Wear the watch snug, keep dirt out from between the links, have the pins checked at a service.

Left alone, one pin eventually gives way. The watch drops, and the repair bill lands on the case or the movement, far more than the bracelet would ever have cost to sort.

The looseness is the warning. It arrives quietly, which is probably why it gets overlooked.

The word sells the story. The numbers often tell a quieter one, and some buyers only find that out after they've paid.

We've had references stop production and simply sit flat for years. Others climb steadily for a decade.

The Hulk is the fair example. Around £7,200 in 2016, below retail at the time. Those same watches now sit between £17,000 and £22,000.

That didn't happen because it was discontinued. It happened because a few things lined up.

1. The replacement didn't offer the same look. The newer green Sub uses a different green and a black dial. You can't buy the Hulk's look new anymore.

2. Demand hadn't been satisfied when production stopped. People were still waiting when the door closed.

3. Papers and service history. A complete set can fetch up to 60% more than the same watch without one. Actually, condition matters before either of those, we should have said that first.

The Batman on the Oyster bracelet is a quieter version of this. The colours are still made, just on a Jubilee now. A bracelet change built its own following.

The discontinued Explorers, on the other hand, matter more for size preference than for value. Worth knowing before you pay a premium expecting a curve.

The scratches on a vintage Rolex are the reason it holds its value.

Sounds backwards, we know. Twenty-odd years in this trade and it still surprises people when we say it.

Polishing removes metal. A thin layer each time, and it never comes back. The lug edges soften, the bevels round off, and to a serious collector the watch now looks incomplete. They walk.

We've seen it ourselves more than once. Two watches, same reference, same era, sitting side by side. The polished one looks newer, cleaner, easier on the eye. The unpolished one has scratches, a slightly dull case, a bracelet that's lived in. The unpolished one sometimes sells for considerably more because the people who understand that reference know what they're looking at.

Modern pieces from the 2000s onwards are a different story, to be fair. Light polishing barely touches their value, and if the scratches genuinely bother you, sorting them out is reasonable.

One thing worth knowing either way: official Rolex servicing includes polishing by default. If you own something vintage, you need to ask in writing for them to leave the case alone.

The highest price online for your Rolex is mostly hope.

We've been valuing watches for close to thirty years, and this one thing catches more owners than anything else.

Someone finds their model listed at a big number online and treats that as the value. After that, every honest offer feels like an insult.

Behind the word "worth" there are actually a few different numbers:

1. The advertised price. What someone is asking. Hope, mostly.

2. The realistic market value. What similar watches actually sell for right now.

3. The dealer purchase value. What you'd be paid outright today. It sits below retail because the dealer carries the servicing, the guarantee, and the waiting.

4. The part-exchange value. Your watch put towards another piece. Sometimes this works out rather kindly.

When someone comes in holding the top online figure in their head, a fair offer can feel like a slight. It only feels that way because the anchor was never a real number to begin with.

The listing price is a fine place to start your research. It's a poor place to rest your expectations.

A steel Rolex is not a guaranteed investment.

We say that as people who sell them, which probably sounds odd.

The GMT-Master II is a lovely example. People buy the Pepsi or the Bruce Wayne expecting it to climb, because for a few years it did.

But, steel prices held because demand outran supply. The watch didn't promise that alone.

And that friction shifts. Wait times at authorised retailers had eased to around 90 days for some references by 2026, from years at the peak. Quiet changes like that feed straight into pre-owned prices.

Over twenty years we've watched this market move both ways. The buyers who seem happiest a decade on are the ones who bought a watch they'd be glad to own whatever the market did next.

If it climbs, lovely. If it doesn't, you still own something you wanted.

We open the caseback. That's when the truth shows.

Most weeks someone brings a Rolex into the shop and asks us the same quiet question. Is it real.

They've usually checked the weight. The dial. The little magnifier over the date.

Fair checks, all of them. Ten years ago they'd have caught most fakes.

The better copies now pass every one. Some even sweep instead of tick, which used to be the classic giveaway.

So the outside tells us less and less. The movement is where the evidence sits, and it's the one part an owner almost never sees.

Each model carries a specific calibre, finished in a way that's genuinely hard to copy. We also check that every part matches the reference and its period, because a real case can be hiding parts that don't belong to it.

We had one last year that looked right from every angle. Genuine case, genuine bracelet. The heart of it wasn't.

Actually, calling those watches fake isn't quite right either. Part genuine, part not, and the value sits somewhere uncomfortable in between.
