Good morning to you all and this morning I thought I would discuss RE-TIPPING!

A customer recently gave me this beautiful Diamond ring she owns, to have a look at. Under the jewellery loupe, I could clearly see that the gold has worn dangerously thin and you can see the Diamonds are being held by very little. I highly recommended re-tipping.

What is re-tipping? Retipping a ring is a common repair where a jeweller rebuilds worn, thin, or damaged prongs (claws) that hold a gemstone in place. This process involves adding new, matching metal to the tips of the prongs to strengthen them, ensuring the stone remains secure and preventing it from falling out, extending the ring's life.

Some pieces of jewellery I have made I never get bored of sharing! These Tanzanite and Diamond earrings are one example. They were utterly divine and rather hard to part with! Set with 6 mm round cut Tanzanite and surrounded with 3 mm round cut Diamonds in yellow gold.

More custom made makes coming along. Here is one of my trilogy ring designs. We will be setting this with Tanzanite gemstones, which will show the subtle difference in the saturation of this gorgeous gemstone.

This incredible necklace was made by Cartier in 1947 for the Duchess of Windsor. The Duchess worked closely with the firm on the design of the necklace. The necklace has 28 amethysts, turquoise, diamonds, and a gold chain. After the Duchess died, her jewels were sold at auction. This piece fetched $605,000. This is one of the first pieces that got me interested in royal jewels.
