🧸✨ A little workshop magic.

This little teddy bear pendant arrived in pieces after years of being loved and worn.

With a little patience, care and a few soldering tricks, he's been lovingly restored and is ready to be treasured once again. 💛

I quite enjoy doing restorations like these and bringing sentimental pieces back to life.

✨ From dull to dazzling.

This chunky 9ct yellow gold wedding band came into the workshop looking a little tired, but after a professional clean and polish, its shine was completely restored.

It's amazing what a little workshop magic can do. ✨🧚‍♀️

Years of wear can leave gold looking dull, but a good polish can bring back that beautiful mirror finish.

Sometimes the simplest jobs create the most satisfying transformations.

💍 This ring was a gift from my mum and dad for my 18th birthday.

I'm now 41, and after all these years, I still love it just as much as the day I received it.

It's 18ct gold with diamonds and a sapphire, and I still think it looks as beautiful and timeless today as it did 23 years ago.

The funny thing is, between working at the bench all day and going to the gym, I rarely wear jewellery these days.

But this ring is different.

As a jeweller, I could remodel it into something more modern if I wanted to...

But I never would.

The memories attached to it are worth far more than the gold and gemstones.

Some pieces aren't just jewellery. They're little reminders of the people and moments that matter most. ❤️

So here's a little throwback to when Rambo and his best mate were regulars in the workshop.

By "helping", I mean sleeping, supervising and occasionally demanding biscuits. 😆💍

I think the second photo proves just how exhausting workshop life can be... using your best friend's tail as a pillow! ❤️

💡 Tip Thursday

A little bench trick that saves time and helps avoid mistakes.

As jewellers, we work with lots of different solders – 9ct, 18ct and silver, each available in easy, medium and hard grades.

Before cutting a solder sheet into small pieces, I run it through the rolling mill to thin it down. I then colour the entire sheet with Sharpie, front and back, so every piece carries the colour code.

That means if a piece gets dropped on the floor, mixed up on the bench or turned over, I can still identify it instantly.

It might seem like a small detail, but when you're working with multiple grades of solder, different carats of gold and different metals every day, organisation saves time and helps avoid costly mistakes. 🔥💍

The large rosebud tip is used for melting precious metals, while the smaller tips allow me to carry out delicate jewellery repairs and soldering work.

Choosing the right flame for the job makes all the difference.

From melting gold to repairing fine chains, every job requires the right tool and a steady hand.

Which part surprised you most?

One thing being a jeweller has taught me is to notice the little things.

Most people probably walked straight past this feather, but those colours caught my eye immediately. 💙🪶

A quick search later and I discovered it belongs to a Eurasian Jay.

Whether I'm looking at gemstones, jewellery, nature, or out walking with Rambo, I'm always drawn to the details and the things that make you stop and take a closer look.

Sometimes the best finds are the ones you weren't looking for at all.

(Rambo was far less impressed than I was 😂🐾)

Still went.

Some days the hardest part is just turning up.

But whether it's the gym, the jewellery bench, the paperwork or the endless to-do list, little steps soon add up.
